  1. Made the two hour drive from Syracuse looking for open water with my buddies Joe and Shaun.  Launched at the Point Breeze launch and although there were no docks having young athletic fishing partners made the launching process go very smoothly.  I was surprised at the lack of floating debris in the lake and the water temperatures ranged from 36 to 41 degrees.  We started shallow for the first few hours and could not seem to find the browns.  I kicked out to 40 feet of water and the screen lit up.  We hooked into half a dozen lakers and lost a pig which broke my 12 pound test leader right at the back of the boat.  The fish were hitting brightly colored deep diving rapalas and while they were not our target species they were a lot of fun.  We did have a lot of knockoffs on the riggers but only hooked one fish on an orange laker taker spoon.  post-143334-0-07212700-1428153365_thumb.jpgpost-143334-0-94511800-1428153394_thumb.jpg

  2. For sale is a three week old Lowrance Elite 7 Hdi fish finder chart plotter combo with down imaging. This is the model with the down imaging transducer so it is the pricier unit, I paid over $850 for the unit and optional sun cover. I decided to go with the $1400 Hds 8 instead. I would ship. This unit back to bass pro but my wife threw out the box. First $650 takes it. Check out online at bass pro it is the upgraded unit. You get everything for the unit except the box and paperwork. Yes I will ship if you pay shipping.

  3. I have been doing pretty good with the smallmouth bass on the lake.  I would try  a drop shot rig with a pumpkin colored plastic or drifting minnnows on a three way rig.  For the rainbows you are going to have to fish with a dipsy diver or a downrigger over deeper water.

  4. SOLD

I am selling my Minn Kota powerdrive 2 bow mount trolling motor with 70 pound thrust and 60" shaft.  It is equipped with Ipilot and the remote control.  Comes with hardware to mount to boat and is in good working condition.  Runs off a 24 volt system and has tons of power to push a big boat.  Cost at Cabelas is approximately $1,200 selling for $600.  I am a troller so I never use it.

  5. I am purchasing a Tr-1 Gold Autopilot and need a marine mechanic who has experience installing these.  Does anyone know someone good in the Upstate NY area? I have no confidence in the mechanic at my marina.

    THanks!

  6. Wow what a great adventure for you and your family.  If you do not have a leadcore set up you should buy one.  I got a ten color setup including pole and reel all set to go at all seasons in pulaski for $130.  Also buy some Stinger UV spoons in Stingray size-ask the guys at all seasons for a good selection of colors and you should be good to go for some good steelie action.  My hot spoon last weekend was UV dolphin carmel color.  Good luck and enjoy the precious tme with your family.
