Change is on the way. Within a few years now, every NYS boater will have to pass a boating test not unlike a drivers test. That should decrease ignorance a bit.
That SHOULD help but I doubt it. It hasn’t decreased stupidity for jet ski operators.

Scotty releases are the answer for copper and leadcore

Stopped there last Sunday after doing lunch at the Black North Inn. Great selection of trolling gear with some tips from the owner.

Thanks Whaler. Looking to do the same outta I-bay in the AM. Not surprised with that wind we’ve had. Gonna be fishing deep for the brownies. ☹️

I run the #1 & #2 chinook divers when fishing shallow say less than 30ft. They’re great for all of the above reasons. The problem arises when fish are deeper. If your buddy calls you and says his 220 diver on a 1.5 setting with the ring is hotter than Dutch love, 😃 how do you reproduce that on a #4 or #5 chinook.

I recall my Moor instructions saying you can leave the battery in as long as the probe is dry. It has an auto on switch when in the water. A cheap DC voltmeter on board can save a lot of trouble if the probe stops working

I took the weight off my 2nd keel. I wasn’t comfortable with them sinking if the tow line broke. They run just fine

We got into them off I-Bay last week several times. Similar sizes as Brian said. If you’re not staring at the rod when they bite you end up dragging them.

Can't seem to do anything with that file. Can you make it a PDF?

Shipbuilders Creek is approx. 1.5 mi east of Irondequoit Bay outlet. It hits the lake at a spot known as Forest Lawn.

Like a Timex watch, my SubTroll has been around for 14 yrs and still ticking. Got 2 spare probes off of the LOU here to keep it running a few more years hopefully. 🙄

Those dive charts are a general guideline with lots of variables. Speed and line size, etc. Be aware of the diver setting also. At that depth I would have mine on 3 or higher. Good luck

I am using 65lb braid for the main line. I am using a 30ft leader, to attach the slide diver to.
65lb braid main line - 30ft, 30lb mono leader for the slide diver - bead, barrel swivel, 6ft,15lb leader - spoon.
Not sure how deep you were trolling or the setting on the slide diver but it sounds like you were digging/dragging bottom over some zebra coated rocks which frayed and broke that 30lb Big game.

As a Sandy creek angler , I want our fair share of pen fish back.
I thought it was decided that the water temp was not conducive for pen raising in Sandy. I seem to remember 70 deg water there in April a few years ago while they were still getting pen fish.

Right on Matt, a hard working group it was. And I managed to stay dry. 😋 Happy to see them in the water after last years low water level didn’t allow the pens to go in. Looking forward to the kings and steelhead getting delivered next week and getting on the feeding schedule

A buddy caught one in front of I-Bay on Sunday. He called his a whitefish. Very hard to distinguish the two. Uncle google says both are salmonoids and good for smoking cause of the high fat content.
i find them hard to keep lit myself. 😂
