  1. Another tough weekend of fishing for us. Got to Myers fri evening and started setting up the camper. Barely have it unhooked from the truck, and Kade is already at Scott's camper talking smack to him and Rollie His head apparently still swollen from last year's derby. Of course now it's up to Dad to back him up and put him on some fish. With the weather forecast calling for pretty stiff north wind we decided we would run to the north end at first light before it got rough and troll south back to Myers...has to be a big fish somewhere in between. We were greeted by rain and whitecaps at 6:00am Took a ROUGH ride up to Dean's Cove and set up headed south. Well....there were a heck of a lot of little fish between there and Myers, lost count well into the 20's. Couldn't find any big guys. Picked up around 6:30, Kade starting to sweat a little. I told him not to worry, we'd get 'em sunday...weather says warmer with south wind 4mph. 6:00am sunday morning...CCCCOOLLLLDDD....and wind blowin' about 15 out of the south. Went straight across and set up headed north. Picked away at the little guys...found a 4# laker just south of T-Falls...turned around to troll back thru...washed the carpet in the boat several times...turned again and continued north past scout camp picking little guys the whole way. Well...let's try the south end...picked up and ran south of the salt plant and set up on east side headed north. Picked away at more little guys...another 4#er in front of salt plant...found the orange buoy with outside dipsy discovered that 45# braid can almost out do my 8hp kicker...continued past Myers...turned around to see if I could grab buoy with outside dipsy off other side...no luck...went south for a while...picked away at more little guys...got in a hurry resetting outside dipsy pulling FF and got it wrapped up with inside dipsy pulling a grease trap  what a mess. Called it a day after that. Kade was on the board for a little while which made him feel better. He's already talking about strategy for next year Congrats to all who won, and thanks to Barney and Bear for puttin' this together. Also want to thank everyone for being so good to Kade, it's nice to see him feel like he "fits in" somewhere in this world. Oh...almost forgot...Scott and Rollie, this is from Kade Kyle

  3. Almost time...Kade is counting the minutes at this point.
  4. WTG Ed! Sent from my ADR6410LVW using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. We use mag dipsys and they don't pull that hard...except when they're out 300' and won't trip...Kade let's me reel those in. Sent from my ADR6410LVW using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. Tough fishing for sure. Cayuga did not give them up willingly. We fished out of Long Point, figured that was safer bet with wind forecast, didn't matter, got snotty up there too as soon as wind kicked up. We couldn't buy a fish on the dipsys or core, but finally got triggers to start firing. Managed 1 laker that would have landed Kade second in youth but dad didn't think it was big enough and sent home, 1 pretty little brown, 5 cookie cutter salmon, and 4lb 8oz salmon that got us first place for the silver's woooohoooo!!!! Great day on our boat! Kade is already countin the days til B&B derby. Kyle Sent from my ADR6410LVW using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Hope they get updated entry form on Harborfest website soon. I really don't want to drive 3 hour round trip just to register. Kyle
  8. Well...looks like we are out...Kierans not feeling well. Good luck to all. Kyle
  9. We are in!! Looking forward to it. I'll be fishing with daughter Kieran since Kade is at camp. Kyle
  10. Nice fish!!! That's too funny, my parents have a house on Lake Marion, I've fished it many times. Glad to see the bass are rebounding. They had a big fish kill a few years ago when a hurricane came thru. Kyle
  11. Shoot...you could have come with us today. Not much to report though other than it was a beautiful afternoon to be on the water. Kade and I launched at T falls @ 1:30. Trolled north up east side in front of power plant, blank screen. Crossed to west side and headed south, blank screen there too until we moved out to 200-300 fow. Lots of marks and bait down deep. Only managed 1 good laker and 2 dink salmon. Kyle [ Post made via Android ]
  12. I would give up my riggers long before my dipsy rods could be pried from my hands. For every fish I catch on a rigger, probly catch 8 on dipsy. And...not trying to discourage you...but...trolling on a tight budget...hahahahahaha!!!!!! As was said before...welcome to buying more stuff! Hehehe. Kyle [ Post made via Android ]

    Oink, oink

Fall is the best for big bass...IMO...usually this time of year they are really starting to bulk up for winter. We fish a lot of different ways for a lot of different fish...but I'll never out grow Bassin' in the local farm ponds. Kyle
  14. Well I'm glad we haven't been the only ones struggling the latter part of this year...startin' to think we were missing something. Kyle

Yes we did. About 15 years of pretty strict C&R is the reason we have the opportunity to catch trophies like her a mile from home. And she is not the biggest...we have returned bigger to fight another day. Kyle [ Post made via Android ]

Here piggy piggy! Kade & I got this one out of my dad's pond sunday morning. Kyle
  17. Glad you finally got back out Wes. We decided to stay home this weekend, which was a good move by the sounds of things...doesn't sound like things have picked back up up there yet. Besides...got another pig outa my dad's pond sunday morning. Kyle
  18. Don't feel bad Ed...we had same situation on Cayuga Sunday. Fish were sitting in middle of buffet table probably too stuffed to move. We had to go down to 110 to get under 60 degrees. Kyle [ Post made via Android ]
  19. Can't say that I've forgotten the stern straps, but we have fished a few times without the plug in. Kyle
  20. No,but...holy crap!!! That's a monster regardless of where it was caught. [ Post made via Android ]
  21. Nice explanation Hermit...I was thinking the same thing, but this is the first time I have ever seen my dipsy rods and cables disagree with downspeed. Usually if currents are real bad I end up ignoring gps and surface, and just going by downspeed and the looks of the dipsy rods and cables. Just never seen them completely disagree. Thanks for the input! Kyle
  22. Kade & I ran up sunday morning to T-Falls and got on the water @ 9:30. Kade wanted to set up out front and troll south so we did. Temp was 65 on top and 65 70' down. At 90' still had 58. Set up with riggers at 90' and 100', and dipsys with SD and fly out 200' - 300'. Screen was loaded all the way to the yaght club where we picked up. I think the fish had their bellies full already, caught 5 smallish atlantics that looked like they were going to pop, and a pig laker that we were looking for the weekend before. Laker came on dipsy out 280' and was the only shot we had between the four dipsy rods. When we picked up, temp was 58 down 120'. North wind kicked up around 12:30, whitecaps started to form, so we called it a day. Kade was itchin' to get home and hit Grandpa's pond anyway. Almost forgot...anybody else fish sunday and experience some really wierd currents? Couldn't decide if what I was experiencing was real, or if my X-4 was having a bad day. Pretty much the whole time we were out we were on a south troll...GPS speed was 2, surface speed was 1.3, down speed 3, and rigger cables and dipsy rods were lookin' like about 1.5. So we finally pretty much ignored everything and fished by the rigger cables and dipsy rods which X-4 was showing downspeed of 3.4. Still scratchin' my head. Kyle
  23. Kade will be on cloud 9 when he sees this! Kyle
  24. So true lavarock...the only electronic device Kade's nose is glued to on the weekends is a Humminbird. Kyle
