  1. Be careful with the cannon bases. I am a cannon man....but bumping bottom for Lakers I have broken 3 bases on my outside riggers. They don't hold up to the torque. I switched to the off shore stainless that cannon makes ( about $50 extra) but they have held up just fine.

Just my .$02..... but if you ever bump bottom you might want to hunt for the old metal style they used to make or spend the extra $$ on the SS ones

  2. I will have to look for a pic of the cuddy. I can tell you it has all three cushions & are in tip top shape with zero rips or tares. Also has a custom maple shelf across the front of the bow in the cuddy for storing blankets...life vests etc.

The boat weighs roughly 5200lbs with the kicker & riggers on the trailer. Can be towed with half ton truck easily.

  3. The boat is in storage in Vermont right now. Price has been brought down to $13,000 as I put the Elite 7 on my new Baha.

It has brand new drop curtains & is coming fully equipped. Lots of tire kickers... I can say that the price is firm at $13,000.... I know what I have put into it & its WELL BELOW THAT!

  5. Saw this post ...I guess its a good one for me to chime in on.

I just purchased a 1988 280 Baha Fishermen with cable steering . It is a twin engine & has an older King ap attached to the helm that does function well. I am thinking about switching the cable system over to hydraulic. Does any one have any experience with this change over? Cost ...work involved?

I am going to mount a kicker on her next summer & want to tie the kicker to the same system ap to limit added expense & another ap unit to maintain.

    Thanks for any help guys!

  6. I have run wingers the last two seasons with great success on an 8.5ft beam.

They do pull pretty hard on the retrieve since I use cannon high speeds. With a a 3 rigger spread for kings you virtually fish as deep as you want with out any threat if tangles. I have run them with a 4 rigger spread for browns & they work great in that application as well.

You do have to watch the split rings when running heavy rigger weights ( I run 14's)...as I have straightened a few out after extended use.

As far as the dipsie & cable idea...never heard of it. I have run down & outs with great success... especially high sun .. mid day!

    good luck!

  9. Hello & a late Merry Christmas!

We made our annual trip down this year with my son & buddy Tim, whom had never had a chance to experience sea ducks before.

We left in the early morning Monday to heavy fog at the launch & being low tide we had to pick our way out the channel on the North side of the Cape for a short mile & a half ride out to an Island we would be setting up on.

We set a string of a dozen & a half mix of Eiders & Scoters on one long line...& around the corner we set a dozen Brant as the capt said a fair amount of them had been around.

The fog was pretty thick & kept the early morning flight pretty quiet. A few Old Squaw & Whistlers buzzed us...but not much else. About an hour after shooting light our first trio of " Eidahs" committed to the dekes & a hen & nice drake dropped in front of us. After a steady mix of white wing scoters & old Squaw kept the barrels warm but we found our leads on passing shots needed to be a bit more! As the morning wore on more Eiders steadily worked in including a nice pack of about 10 of them ..but having our limits of hens my son had to do some quick thinking to pick a nice Drake out of the group!

We were getting ready to call it a morning about 10:30 as the fog had lifted a bit but had turned to a pretty steady rain. As we sat discussing our breakfast plan, we all were caught off guard as a fighter wing of Brant came in from our far left preparing to commit to our line of Dekes....well needless to say they def caught us off guard as my son & Tim emptied their guns ...to only see one bird out of about a dozen drop!

Over all another great trip..& fun gunning. Any one looking to get a trip in should give Capt. Jack Renfrew of Coast Line Guide Service a shout! Great guide & a hoot to spend a day on the water with!

Well...that wraps up our 2013 waterfowl season... good to those finishing off thiers on the west end!
