  1. Boat has not been inspected.  It’s been professionally maintained with an open checkbook over the years, much more than I listed above.  I have most if not all receipts for work/upgrades.

The engine has been pulled several times during work the stringers are good.  Hours on the kicker is an estimate: 250-300.  I’m an attorney who had three kids since I bought it - you could safely say my free time is limited!  I’m lucky to use it 10 times a year.

Is it perfect?  No, it’s 30 years old.  Is it a great value for the $?  Yeah.  You could part it out for as much as my asking price.

How are the stringers and trandsom

Excellent.  The motor has been pulled a few times (always professional pull) and the stringers are in great shape.  Frankly the boat is a bit of a tank.

Do you have any pics of inside?

I think I have a few but I’ll have to search older pics.  I know I took photos of the kicker remote control and I bet a few fish pics have some background.  The cuddy is in good shape but I don’t think I have pics of that.  I’ll post what I find.

Hey what’s the actual length of this? Also do you have the paperwork that shows all the engine work?

The hull length is 21’ 6”, hence the “2160” model number.  That length does not include the bow pulpit or kicker.  Those add about 3’ if taking a total measurement.

I’ve got all engine paperwork and the paperwork for just about every major maintenance, repair, replacement or upgrade over the years.  Just keep it away from my wife, eh?

Thanks for your interest.  Shoot me a Message if you want to chat.

  5. Well maintained and well equiped 1989 Trophy 2160.  Michigan Motorz installed a new 350 5.7L GM 350 Base engine in 2013 or so.  175 hrs on the main since then, tops.  It has a 2012 Mercury 9.9 remote kicker- eclectic start, long shaft, plumbed to the main tank and controlled by separate remote control at the helm.  It’s mounted via an adventure marine aluminum kicker mount and has a new ez steer connection to the outdrive.  I’ve put alot of love into her: 2018 engine coupler & gimball bearing, electronic ignition, carb rebuilt, thermostat replaced, upgraded gas feed hoses, stainless steel 15x15 four blade Powertech prop and an aluminum Mercury 17x15, new anti-siphon valve, 2018 new macerator in fish box and 2019 new exhausts fan and ducting.

Electric Cisco planer board reels with mounted controls and big john pulleys off the hardtop.  Four Cannon powerports for riggers. 4 Cannon Mag 10 riggers available. All professionally rigged off a separate dedicated fuse box.  Fish Hawk 870 head and receiver (surface temp no worky) works with new Fish Hawk probes. Lowrance 510c and Garmin dedicated GPS with great lakes chip.  Oscillating fan at helm.  LED deck light.  Porta potty in cuddy.  I have slept three in the cuddy when necessary.  It’s a nice layout for a small space.

Rigged with tite-lok and craig’s rodholders.  Nice Lewmar plow anchor with 150’ 1/2 inch rope and chain, two custom Bone Collector aluminum rocket launchers on the hard top hold 12 rods.  Bow pulpit could use some tlc and swim platform ladder was broken by a big boy last year.  Tach needs replaced too if you are picky.

Escort trailer is decent.  Gets me to Ontario once or twice a year.  Brakes are not operational but behind my Nissan Armada it has towed just fine.

Clear Title - NE Ohio location (Mentor)

    $5,000.00 fully rigged.

  6. I have a 1989 Trophy 2160.  Bought it from MI in 2008 or so.  It has been a great boat.  I’ve upgraded and repaired many items and have some insights for later year hardtop models.

This hull is heavy and durable.  You absolutely need the 5.0 engine to get safe power in rough weather.  When I replaced the base engine I went to a 5.7 and am pleased.

if you troll you want a kicker on this boat.  Having been through several iterations on mine a fixed aluminum mount with remote controls at the helm is a good layout.

Trim tabs are a must for load balance at speed.

    Electronic ignition is absolutely preferred.

The OMC Cobra is a real good outdrive just have it serviced regularly.  Mine’s been bulletproof.

If buying used look for an owner who has put some $ into the rig, otherwise it will be your wallet opening up for necessary repairs.  Older models will need tlc over time to be safe and reliable.  The huge savings is in the low cost of a used purchase makes up for the occasional boat buck incurred.  Trophys provide extremely good value on the used market so long as they have been well kept.

My boat was on the market this spring I’d still sell if it’s what you are looking for.  If you search the classifieds for trophy 2160 the details should pop up in an available posting, or feel free to inquire via message.

Well maintained and well equiped 1989 Trophy 2160.  New 350 5.7L GM base engine professionally installed by Michigan Motorz appx. 175 hrs ago.  2012 Mercury 9.9 electic start long shaft plumbed to the main tank and controlled by separate remote control near helm, adventure marine aluminum kicker mount, new ez steer connection to regularly serviced Cobra outdrive.  New engine coupler & gimball bearing 2018, electronic ignition, carb rebuilt, thermostat replaced, upgraded gas feed hoses, extra stainless steel 15x15 four blade Powertech prop, it has an aluminum Mercury 17x15 on it at the moment, new anti-siphon valve, new macerator in fish box and new exhausts fan/ducting.  I don’t have enough time to use her properly.

Electric Cisco planer board reels/big john pulleys off the hardtop.  Four Cannon powerports for riggers.  Cannon Mag 10 riggers available separately.

The underlying teak side rails are cracking...it needs a better system such as a track.  Nice Lewmar plow anchor with 150’ 1/2 inch rope, two custom Bone Collector aluminum rocket launchers on the hard top hold 12 rods.  Bow pulpit could use some tlc and swim platform ladder was broken by a big boy last year.  Tach needs replaced too if you are picky.

Clear Title - $5,750.00 NE Ohio location (Mentor) but I’ll be up to Ontario for salmon sometime in August.

  8. My 89 Bayliner Trophy 2160's bilge pump was not connected to a float swich and was not hard wired the the batteries.  I had to reconfigure that for safety.  The Bayliner Trophy that sank looks like a 1991 - 1993...if configured in the same stock manner it could be a contributing factor.  Water reaches a critical point before being noticed, no auto pumping occurs, boat goes down fast especially with the low transom on that outboard model.

Is the Launch at Tuscarora back to normal, or do you still have to motor over to another floating dock?

When I was there first week of August the ramp docks were still submerged but ramp was open.  Call Kevin Jerge at Wilson Marina for docking/accomodations.  Wilson fishing is tougher in the late summer but you have the chance for some exceptional fish.

Look at report 9.2 on Page 176.  Andy Todd had some very interesting slides of this at the SOL meetings last spring, as well.  SUNY Brockport did some work on this, way back, as well, for migration around the Lake.

Thanks!  Great info and the chart you pointed out is fascinating.  One of those two kings is running 150' to 250' deep every day, coming up to 50-60' at night.  I got a dollar that says "large mature fish".  The other fluctuates in the 40-80' depths depending on time of day.  Sub adult.  Thanks again I love fisheries biology and the telemetry studies are truly eye opening.

The information that the Canadians have been gathering on salmon migration around the lake, using telemetering equipment, says that the fish could basically be on one side of the Lake on Monday and the other end on Tuesday.  Are you suggesting that Canadian fish stay in Canada and NY fish stay in New York?

I didn't know they were using telemetry...are there any papers available or do you have more info?  Telemetry studies are fascinating.  The Lake Huron and MI studies really showed how deep these kings live and how quickly they can move from surface to bottom even in waters over 400' deep.
