  1. I launched my kayak today at 4:15 PM at Sandy Creek in Hamlin. Paddled out to 50 FOW and started letting out a lead core with a Natural Born Killer spoon. A nice brown ate the spoon in 67 FOW, before I got all 10 colors in the water. I fished that depth for a few more minutes and landed 2 small "skipper" kings. I trolled out to 120 FOW with no marks and no bites. I stopped and dropped my Fish Hawk TD and found the thermocline was 50 feet down. I continued out to 140 FOW with no more marks or action. I then went back to 100 FOW and put on a cowbell rig. I picked up 2 lakers in short order. The biggest was 34 inches long and was able to swim back into the deep after being released! I got 1 more skipper king in 75 FOW before heading back to shore before sunset. Not a bad evening.

  2. Engine hours 2,300 on one and 2,000 on the other. Yes, professionally serviced. I kept records of all service since I bought it. No survey since I've owned it. Very solid transom. Super clean, dry & spotless.

Reason for selling: No family around to enjoy it with me anymore. No plans for another power boat. Probably will go back to the kayak.

  4. A friend and his son joined me for a morning trip out of Bald Eagle Marina Tuesday. We got a late start as they overslept. We went 12 for 16, mostly small kings. After losing a couple of majors to a straightened hook and a broken swivel, I decided to take the next big one myself. It took over 15 minutes to land a great king. She weighed 32lb 4oz on the marina's scale. Next year I should probably get in the tournament...

  5. I used to troll Lake Ontario for salmon and trout. I would normally only troll one rod at a time. Too much risk of tangles if a fish gets on. My method was to drag a magnum dipsy diver on the 0 setting. That allowed me to fish up to 100' down. If the fish were 50' or shallower, I preferred to drag a lead core because it doesn't produce the heavy resistance that a dipsy does.
