  1. I am going to be gearing up for next season soon, (you can never be too early and now is the best time for deals) and I was just wondering what you guys had for hot lures that worked well. I am wondering about the best colors of j-plugs, spin doctor and flie combos, and spoons. Thanks for any info.

  2. As long as you stay in the harbor (between the break walls) and in the river you should be ok. I would not go out past the lighthouse unless its calm. It usually is nice in the harbor regardless of the weather due to the break walls. I have not had much luck in the harbor this year but I would try j-plugs and trolling spoons. I like michigan stinger spoons. I would try about 30-40 feet behind your boat. Good luck.

    SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS

I fished all morning sunday. I started in the harbor I marked several fish in the morning but could not get anything to hit, so I thought I would head out to deep water and hooked one very nice steelhead on my way out in about 45 feet of water. There were tons of fish in the 45-60 FOW mark but the weather got bad (waves) and I had to head back to the harbor, I never got a chance to try deep water but with all the fish I marked I don't think I will need to head deep. I will definetly be out once more to try it again.

  4. I was wondering if anyone was still fishing for stealhead and juvenile kings out in deep water. If so what depth and what are you using to catch them? I was told they were out in 450-500 FOW but I have not tried it yet, I plan to this weekend though. I was planning on using spin doctors and flies but If something else works better please let me know. Thanks for any info.

    SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS

Well, tried Oswego again I marked several fish mostly on the bottom. I tried j-plugs and spin doctor fly combo with no luck once again for the second week in a row. I have not heard of any good run in Oswego yet but thought I would try. Does anyone have any suggestions because I'm out of them for Oswego. Is the salmon fishing done in Oswego for the year? I thought maybe this rain we had today might have triggered a run but it does not appear that way.

  6. It depend on how deep the water is that your fishing in but I usually like to put a couple split shot sinkers about 18 inches or so above a egg sac then use some sort of float like a small bobber to keep it suspended about 6 to 12 inches of the bottom. It keeps you from getting tons of snags and I have always got many more strikes that way. Give it a shot and good luck.

  8. Sorry to here about your troubles. Last year me and a friend of mine got a ten pound ball stuck at the bottom in 80 FOW it took us a very long time to get it out. I think I will be all done for the year after this weekend myself it seems like unless you get in the water with waders at the dam I won't be catching any more fish this year and I'm not a fan of that. I'm looking forward to next year hopefully the season will extend a little longer.

  9. Just wondering if any of you guys use cut bait for salmon any more around the oswego area I was gonna try it this coming weekend but not sure if I should bother. I used to use it years ago and it worked well. What is the best way to rig it, If it still works?
