  1. THe conector on mine is a push on. The connector on the paddle is a screw on w/ 7 prongs in it. I don't have down speed ( wish I did) but I have a handheld GPS. Very nice for SOG . I also have a surface (paddle type on my big boat) . I use GPS and surface speed & compare diff to judge surface current. Any info is good if you use it right, at least it is some gauge you can repeat if you hook up. Those 2 & direction of troll at hook up are important if you dont have down speed. good luck.

  2. I really apreciate that Zach , but it is at a repair shop in Salmanca. The owner seemed to be a pretty square guy , so lets hope he is. I am waiting on the news good or bad as I am writing this. Thankyou again for your generosity. As I was sitting on the side of the road waiting for the tow , the lady trooper said, " Well a bad day of Fishing is better than a good day at work. She is so right.

  3. Went down for first time Sat AM. Stayed at Camp Chatauqua, Was windy So Fished Across lake in front of Swim area at state park from point about 1.5 miles down to stay somewhat out of wind . Saw on map 2 nice humps & some good structure. Mostly casting . Suicks, Swim wiz, Buctail Inlines, Over weeds. Butcher depth raider, DB 06& my radkie pike minow on edges. Raised four fish & good hit on the depth raider but that was it. Did some trolling but not much.

Left Sun early afternoon & took senic way home rt 17 to rt 19 north. About 30 min om way home fuel pump( at least I think ) went on van . Had to call triple A for tow. went to Salmanca to garage where owner gave me a loner to get home 6 hours later. Wonder what this will all cost. Nice lake but a whole lot off people. Those fish must get worked over a lot.I saw a lot of trollers & I can see why. Mid to late Oct. would probably be better.

  4. Ah , yes , the mighty walleye. I don't target them , but I do manage to catch one once in a while. We have a stream where I live that gets a good run in the spring once in a while. but thats about it. One of my friends will be doing a lot of jigging the next few days(thats his thing )so we will see.

  5. No I did not fish with Joe there . I went on advice of my friend Gary Nelson. He told me where to go , what to do, and how to do it. Did exactly what he told me and no lie. hit a fish I less than 10 minutes. I won a trip with Joe years later & fised the Ottawa river . Raised one but no fish on . Would like to go back there some day.

  6. Wind can make the water on the surface& maybe down 10 feet trvel faster than the water below it . If your boat speed over ground is traveling 3mph on your gps, & your surface paddle type speed indicator on your depth finder says 2.5 , your lure down70below is travleing 3mph speed over ground. assuming there is no current down there , if your optumum speed for that particular lure you have on is 2.5 accorrding to your surface indicator you are going 2.5speed on water but your lure is traveling 3below spinning out of controll. Down currents can happen you don't know about witchcan affect your catch succes. To me once you are on fish Speed of the particular lure you choose to use is criticalMore so than color. The above is just one example of the affect of down current. The guys who have figgured this part out are usually the most succesfull.

  7. I used A PT 2x10 Sized & fitted to my situation on my 21bayliner trophy. I then wraped it with blue indoor outdoor carpet. It looked cool as hell . Make sure to use thru bolts for your riggers . Was nice cause I would move my rod holder around deppending on if it were spring ( Planner boards) 0r Summer ( Riggers & Dipseys ) To fine tune my setup for optumum perfprmance without puttung holes in the boat. I actually put one across the back & one on each side bolted together.I'm a trim carpenter so all this was pretty easy for my but you can do it.

Nice winter projedt . Use Stainless fasteners.
