  1. Got  a couple trail cams photos and reset a couple blinds today. Worked a nice Tom and 5 hens for 2 hours yesterday. Finally had the hens in the decoys but the Tom stayed at 55-69 yards. Had safety off but decided not to shoot as he didn’t appear nervous and it’s early in the season. Hopefully I can get my wife one tomorrow.

  2. I have a 2007 60 hp  four stroke Mercury with 2700 hours. Just had a new water pump and impeller installed and it still runs great. Mechanic said all looked good and since mostly trolling hours and maintained it is likely better than one with few hours that has sat unused.

  3.   I bought a 18’ Lund Alaskan in 2007. It has been a great multipurpose boat and been used a great deal and still doesn’t leak a drop. I have heard of transom problems with some Lunds but are evidently backed by the company although turn around may be lengthy. They also offer lifetime guarantee on the floor for original owner.

My friend just purchased a lightly used Crestliner last year and it seems super sturdy and nearly bullet proof.

I believe either of these boats will certainly outlast their engines. Both great choices.

  4. I fish early spring out of Mexico or Port Ontario.  Browns are generally available as soon as launches have open water and brown fishing can be very good. With warm winter temperatures this year I think early March is certainly a possibility. Stinger spoons, Storm Thunderstick Jr, and small Rapalas work for me. Generally I targeting 5-25 fow off in line boards. Look for warmest water that has some color.

  5. Before  I released the smaller fish I made sure it was in good shape. It was a cloudy day with temps in the low 30s so it wasn’t freezing on the ice. Under those circumstances fish can remain viable out of water on the ice for a fair length of time but this one wasn’t out of water for long. I can assure you it strongly swam away or I wouldn’t  have released it as it was legal size.
