  1. fished in front of hughes and west. Boated several trout.lakers steelhead and a few kings. All fish on orange and silve ms.One large steelie on monkey puke .most fish were at about 200 to 230

It was a wonderful day . I took a few friends who have never boated big fish before..It was so nice to be fishing with people who didnt fall alseep on the boat.Didnt get sick neither.lol

All this good fishing and going to waste. We need more boats .Twenty years ago there would have been a dozen or more boats out there .today I saw one about two miles

  2. fished west of hughes today.the best action was in close 35 to 50 ft. surface plugs ,chartuse jointed rapala brownies..Other fish came on riggers 15 ft down, wonderbread was hot along with diamond king chartuse and glow tape.had several hits and a medium salmon out at 90 ft.

Good Steel head was  out deeper but had to cut my day.short and quit at noon.

Expect to go am if weather permits.

It was a grand day to be out on the lake. These days we have it mostly  to ourselves which is sad considering past years we had lots of good company .

Should be a good summer but where did all the bait we had earlier go ?????

  3. set up @ 6 am a bit east of hughes on an ne troll in 100' two riggers down 1 with a ssw stinger the other with a F\F a 225 dipsey on #2 setting with an AAF black jaw fly the other dipsey on a #2 setting 165 back pulling a watermelon fly and 2 flat lines off the boards one with a green challenger the other with a blk\silver j-11. first fish came at about 8 on the watermelon fly but came unglued after a short battle. after getting it reset the challenger fired and produced a #7lb steelhead. Turning and working west to ginna produced steelhead and a 12'' king along with an #8lb laker worked water from 100-250 and the water is cold surface temps in the mid 40s!

Thanks for the info Im going fishing soon out of pultneyville .Was last out friday and water was very cold .one small king on wonderbread spoon off riggers set way back.hope to see you soon today

  4. caught a large brown in pultneyville harbor whild jig fishing for perch. Battle lasted about 20 minuteswith brown pulling out.Reeled the line in and had a stick bait on the gig..that is the second brown caught with a stick bait burried in its jaw.Very nice sheephead largest i ever saw ,lately they seem to have returned here ,gone for several years.

  5. glad the kings are here early. The perch have mostly gone back out the lake here .Again it should be a banner year.I heardalot of it was that the cold water from west have driven alot of bait and fish east.

The bait in port was the most Ive ever seen since this fishery started.

Excellent report rabhunt ,you and your boys are always welcome on my boat.

  6. the harbor was full of large alwives.Thousands of gulls seen feeding off the bait.

Many deadfish on the shoreline also.Could have been a result of the hard winter weakened the baitfish. The state stocked 16,000 browns last week. This makes for tough fishing for perch.

Later this week lakers offshore might be a good bet till the bait laeaves the shallow water.

  7. I wonder if seneca perch are a special breed of perch. It might be a good idea to transplant some of these giants to sodus and see what happens. The pumokinseed are very large also.

  8. seneca lake is starting to look alot better than lake ontario.the big lake is almost empty of small mouth, has alot of gobbies and zebras.Seneca has lots of trout ,jumbo perch.lots of small mouths and pike.

it might be a longer drive but one trip to seneca is like 5 to lake ontario in catching fish.Brpwms are p leniful in LO now but soon they will be gone till july.Hope Seneca never gets overrun with gobbies.

  9. My sons have been fishing seneca (east side north of Sampson for a few weeks.Fishing htere is good and perch have not spawned yet.many females still with eggs.Caught alot on soft plastic(panfish assasin, etc)

My self i caught most on minnows and a drop singer(2 and 4 lb test)leaders

We launched at Roy,s(very friendly and helpful).Caught the big ones on the west side but ran over to fish Sampson with my other son's boat.Took a fifty mph ride over Didnt take long.

The perch were all keepers some close to 2 lbs.

Sorry no pics my puter is unable to download my camera.

Still waiting for perch at pultneyville ,maybe a week out yet.
