  1. John Mann IS the "MAN" when it comes to canvas work
  2. A belated happy Birthday Nick!. It is the same day as my son Mark's. I enjoyed chatting with you and Joe and the other folks yesterday.....good bunch of guys. That weather was horrible and I still had a wet butt when I got home a couple hours later but it was a lot of fun aboard the M Arlene and Jason, Theresa, and Scout were great hosts as usual. We fished hard and marked some good ones but just a few takers....there's always next time....
  3. Replace the fuse for the radio.....there may be one inline too it may have blown.
  4. I'm beginning to see why Einstein stuck with relativity....he probably didn't want to mess with this stuff
  5. WTG Your son will remember these times forever no matter where he goes or does in life and there is no replacement for that. The fathers out there that don't take advantage of those fleeting opportunities miss a lot in life. Congratulations Kane!
  6. Good work Andy. We'll be on your turf tomorrow AM early. We'll save you a few in there though
  7. Great Mike .....you did good kid! Couldn't have asked for a much better day on the pond all the way around. I'm fishing the tournament tomorrow on Seneca with Jason so I hope some of your good fortune rubs off on us.....I know the weather will be very different
  8. Thanks Jason. It won't be the best weather from the forecast but sometimes adversity brings out the best performance. See you in the AM.
  9. Guess you took me serious when I said knock the crap out of them Mike WTG and especially great that it is happening with family on board!
  10. WTG Mike....looks like you're in your "element" out there. I sure hope this king action heats up like last couple years. Knock the crap out of them bud. Les
  11. Geez Hop you didn't need to admit to being at the wheel...they could have thought I had autopilot and both of us would have been clean and about those lures.... I think might have just been "testing the action" to see how they responded without the line attached
  12. 18 ft Boston Whaler Ventura with 135 Salt Water (blue writing) Merc Optimax but at the time I was hauling butt toward the ramp
  13. Al - I'm pretty sure we saw you jigging as we were heading for the chamber launch full tilt about noon. You were in the usual spot on west side (we've discussed before) Nice going . I think I may bring my jigging stuff next time too....a lot of fun getting them that way.
  14. Not sure from the report whether the fish were suspended or near bottom if near bottom shorten your lead up close to the ball say 8 ft and try dragging by close to them (near bottom) watching the bottom contour closely. If suspended put your lure back about 20 ft from ball and put it right at the depth you see the fish at on your finder and troll through them.Your lure will probably be a little above them because of blow back and hopefully they will come up and after it. Also be aware that not all fish at depth or suspended are actually trout or salmon so give it a good work out and if not takers move on to next group and repeat.
  15. Nice going How was the grass down that way? A lot of it up north. That lake sure was beautiful this morning...like glass for a while. Nicereport.
  16. I feel better now Mike . I saw Frankie at the launch this morning and he was doing the same stuff today as has been working great right along....he probably knocked the heck out of those lakers.
  17. Well Hop and I went out this AM after Hop got his beauty sleep. Never depend on your cat as an alarm clock....highly unreliable We started in about 40- ft on west side and trolled south. Just south of the country club in 106 ft we nailed a landlock on flutter spoon set at 40 ft on main nothing on cheater He was about 3 lbs. and hooked real bad so we boxed him for Hop's supper. A little while later we connected a double on wire dipseys running about 60 -70 ft respectively and Hop landed a laker about 3 lbs or so on a wonderbread Spin Doc with a white home made fly. My fish (I presume laker) got off on the way in. Lost a couple more as day went on possibly also lakers but we were trolling pretty fast and they didn't quite get hooked real good...they were also on the flies behind the deeper divers. Hop then nailed another landlock on the downrigger set at 41 ft with a spoon and cheater and again hit the main spoon. Along the way when we started out toward the middle from the west side we encountered a large amount of floating grass and had to clear lines way too many times. Went east then north not much happening so we called it a day at about 11:30 AM. Oh and did I forget to mention that north of Roy's where the beginning of the shelf is we were busily BS'ing about past "messes etc. and not watching what we were doing and we came from 100 ft into 22 ft of water and hung up both downriggers, both wire dipseys, a lead core and a TX 44 with braid on the bottom. My downrigger wire was about half way gone on the spool . Luckily we salvaged everything without losing any stuff....Here's two guys with about 90 years of experience between them making a rookie look good Moral of the story: Have one guy BS while the other maintains "lookout" and pretends to be listening For most of the morning the lake was like glass and we had a lot of fun.
  18. WTG Marty! Looks as though you gave things a real good workout
  19. The 5 hp extra is probably not a major problem but all the things Lund SSS said are the real concerns..... I agree not a good move.
  20. Sorry to hear about the boat problem but congrats on the marriage Nick
  21. Off to a good start with a really fun species and having fun is what it is all about.
  22. Holy crap! Is it engine stuff again Nick?
  23. Gator make s a great point....we tend to think in terms of unlimited supplies of fish in the lakes sometimes but not so...fishing pressure sure can change things around pretty quickly.
  24. Great deer pic John...they've sure been cranking out those twins around here too.
