  1. Yeah, I already knew it is very hard fish to catch.. They are called 10,000 cast for one.. So, I'll cherish this memory for lifetime. But man, its surely addicted feeling! Don't convince me into muskie fishing orwise i'll spent tons for them to just fish for them.

Another thing, just wanted to say big thanks to everyone who are muskie fishing and I am certainly learned few tips from you guys. even you guys didn't realize that you did contribute my factor into targeting them. Even through I never went for muskies until recently. You deserved the credits for that too.

  2. Ivan - No, i didnt see oldman story on eels. I might do that after this or you can refer me to it?

Also, the lake itself is western PA. I found the answer based on PA stocking muskies. I am already saying too much.

Few of pictures are on same fish. Just like how pictures shot that angle. Right now, two fish are different between my friend and I am holding. His head is on my friend's hand is his fish. While my fish is my muskie. Its definitely different muskie because my friend's muskie has damaged fin on his second left fin. while my muskie doesnt have damage fins. Next day, I'm not bothered to look if it was same muskie or not. I'm just mindblown that we actually got them again.

p.s. I am not meant to make everyone feel bad. It just happened and we got them. Only thing that my friend and I am regret about is forget to bring our GoPro camera to this trip. It will be definitely amazing footage for sure. Also, We didnt discovered that muskie was on this lake until baitshop told us.

  3. Haha. Nope, I'm not smoking.. It has happen and its happened. Good thing i have pictures orwise it will be another fishtale for everyone to hear. or something like big fish got away story! haha

Thanks everyone! It was my first time to actually target them.. First cast, got 50 incher.. I guess I got pure lucky.. Then next day, got another 50 incher.. Even better, it was my first time ever to fish in PA. I guess I have to go PA more often..

I dont know you guys, maybe conditions was affected the role of I'm landing it?

    condition:

    -cloudy

    -super cold temp

-bad rainstorm at previous night and following the night.

-caught it at 1-2pm on first day

-caught double muskie at 920am on next day. (degree was very lower than yesterday and sunny day)

  4. Title said it all. No word need to describe it. My friend and I went PA for camping. We found out that we are camping at muskie lake. So, we figure it to give a shot. I brought two savage sand eels. After re-tied on my friend's line with savage. On his first cast, boom! stuck on rocks. He gave me rod, i'm expert on unhook from rocks. so, i'm trying to go different position to unhook the rocks and somehow, i felt that i was able to pull something with me toward surface. I handed him and told him to reel everything in. I'll unhook if something was on hook. He agreed and reeling it in. Oops, log was surface! Oh CRAP! Its fricking huge muskie! Madness was breaking loose! splashing everywhere and jumping like 4 or 5 times! whole body out of water like you seen Jaws does. Unbelievable! Then we realized that we forget the net at truck. So, I told him, i'll grab it! no matter what happen next. I'll go hospital if i got bad injury. Boom! got him on kayak! Processed mouth-roped it and tow toward beach. Quickly C.P.R. then released it. I got mad because i havent got cast yet! on my first cast, Boom! Got muskie!!!!!! NO WAY!!! two first casts and two muskies! processed same C.P.R again. we gave up after that.

On next day, our mind was set to catch muskie again. we went out again, but no, nothing happen for half hour of casting. we decided to trolling our lures behind kayak. boom! we got them again! double! Holy crap! I processed to land it myself and C.P.R. then released it back. Paddle back into my friend kayak to help land that muskie. Oh man! unbelievable trip for sure!

    Total 4 muskies
    -50 x 25 inches - 40lbs
    -50 x 24 inches - 39lbs
    -50 x 24 inches - 39lbs
    -48 x 22 inches - 34lbs

umm. not sure how to upload the pictures now since site changed. So,i'll wait until someone tells me.

  5. Can anyone lend me direction for going fishing at there? I have no problem to jig for them but find them is entirely other issue for me.

Comment here or PM me. Your choice.

Much thanks! I hope I can catch boatload of them! haha

  6. Mortigan - Thanks!

Kappy - Yeah, it is okay. It happens. Anyway, yeah, I am that picky eater. So, I might not used to that at first. Maybe couple of attempt to eat it, I'll be completely like it. Never knows. I'll let you know and lend you some perch if you want it.

  7. Kappy - no, I am not banned from it. I just didn't post it for three times to get that privilage to view the certain post.

I guess Irish56 was right about three posts to view the certain post.

Ice is so strange in that pond! West and south side has 4-7 inch of ice. Meanwhile middle of pond is consist 7 inch of ice. East side has 3-4 feet of ice! (I didnt going to north end due to open water and I was walking at 2 inch of ice then I realized that I need to walk back out.)

    Anyway, here is my story,

when I arrived that pond at 630am, first thing, I fell down and hit my right hip. I felt something odd about that. I realized that is where I put my phone.. Oops. I checked my phone. It is definitely gone! the glass screen is cracked and ink is spoiled. oh well. I kept walking 100 yard north from south end. Bam. lot of perch being caught and most of them was dink size. 3-7 inches. Also, several perch range 10-13 inches too. I decided to move to deep area that has 13 feet deep. It was nice decision. I was reward with 3 perch over one pound and couple of perch that are 12-13 inch range. definitely between 3/4 - less 15 oz. (this was at nearby east side) then I moved to middle and west side. no big perch at all. only bunch of dinks. I give up at 5pm. The best of 10 perch total weight was 7.78 lbs.

Next day, went up that lake again, at 7am. I went straight to that 13 feet spot. Caught bunch of dinks! no big perch at all. I walked to back to south end that where small creek that lead to another pond. Fished there, finally found couple perch that was 10-11 inch then rest of them was less 7 inches. I wasn't happy with the perch size. so I walked to middle of lake and caught nothing except 12 inch walleye - relased back. I give up and decided to go east side in search for big perch. that is how i found out that ice is 3-4 feet! I was using regular auger! not gas or electric auger. Image that! it took me probably 5 minutes to finally break through the ice. But it is definitly worth it! since I was reward with couple of 3/4 to 14oz of perch. Then bite started to shut off. I got one small perch that was 4 inch long. I reeled it to unhook perch but 34 inch northern pike smacked it! I fought with it for 15-20 minutes before landed it and released back. I decided to move other area due to pikes. Big perch was definitely gone. Since rest of day with dinks range 3-9 inches. Give up at 3pm. The best of 10 perch total weight was 4.81 lbs.

The only method that I did use was 2 pound line with 10-15 pound strength rod/reel. Caty lure with spikes on it. Also, has the sensitive bite tip on my rod to easily notice the lighest bite. I definitely need to buy sensitive rod for perch. I'll do that at next year when ice comes up again. anyway, that is just only one rod I have been consist caught perch. (walleye/pike was hit on jigging rapala on other rod that has 4 pound line)

I probably underestimate the number for myself. But I caught over 500 perch along with one walleye/pike. It was great two days for me and my friend. I tried eat the yellow perch. It was good. Not the best. but it is definitely good taste fish. I was happy with the result for fishing at that lake. Definitey will visit that lake again for sure.

  8. I'll going visiting my friend at Pulaski on March 1-2. I plan to go Ice-fishing at Sandy pond. So, I need your help on this area. I'm not good fisherman for icefishing on perch. I usually target bigger fish. But my friend wanted me to target them and we can have them for dinner. (I never eat one before) It would be nice if I can get several perch.

General thing that I plan to use is jigging rod. no tip-ups. I plan to use jigging rapala and small jig w/ hair that has wax worm on it. Do this method will do the trick for perch? (i'm using two rod that has 2 and 4 pound line on it.) I am rookie to this situation.

Have any kind of tips on where I can catch perch at?

any direction will do for me. But exactly area will be big helpful!

  9. Wondering where can I get something that bigger than 2 pounds catfish in around Rochester? I know genesse river has big ones in there but I just never got one out of couple outings for them.

I used chicken liver w/ salmon eggs wrap, nightclawers, shiners, and cut half of sunfish for baits. Couldn't get any catfish over 2 pounds.

Can you tell me what I do wrong?

  10. I was wondering with our weather lately. It is kept around 40-50 degree daily while it suppose be under 30 or so. Now, there is no major or big snow yet to come. Will we have ice-fishing season at this winter?

    Imput your thought! I'm curious.

I think it will come at very late on December to first week of January. I was kinda hope that would happen!

  11. Yeah, they are all over in lake ontario bays and in the rivers too. This year, I saw 6 women's softball size goldfish in bays and small ponds. Plus, 3 koi in two different bay.. Only one koi was in rit campus. That pond was connected with genesse river.

    Anyway, population getting bigger now.
