  1. Does this photo qualify as a DEC infraction & ticket under the new law?

No it didn't. Irondequoit Bay is a Ontario tributary. It has catch and release bass season with artificial lures. You can photograph fish in catch and release seasons.

  2. A combination fish finder, chart plotter can get you home and out. Not like radar but you know where you are and where you are going. Travel in fog conditions requires a speed where you can stop in half the visible directions, maintain extra lookouts, sound fog signals even if you are anchored and listen for signals from nearby boats. Simply a prolong blast less than two minutes apart while underway. Not underway two prolonged blasts two seconds apart. If you are fishing with long lines or side planers three prolonged blasts two seconds apart followed by two short blasts. A prolonged blast is is four to six seconds long. I am not a sea lawyer.

I have a 16 ft Lund. I blasted a fog horn a few times and used a few flares. Couldnt even see them. A compass would have helped.Should have followed the shore from the start of the return to the launch

  3. I went out a few weeks ago to hedges.. heard reports some big smallies but not as many as the day. I brought crabs and worms.. Basically feeding gobies but got one big one. Caught it in 27 feet.

  4. The night bite for largemouths has been pretty solid lately considering Tim and I are targeting walleye. We have been catching 1-2 a piece every night casting for eyes. This might not sound too impressive except they are huge. Large floating sticks over the weeds along shore seem to be the ticket. If you want a crack at a trophy bass for the wall id say October 16-20 might be your best chance. I have only measured 3 but those were 22-23 inches and id guess 6-8 pounds. The rest have been more like 18-21 inches. The biggest coming on the new moon and the full moon should also be great. Back in may we got 1 that was 24+ with the same pattern. With a little hard fishing Id say its as close to a sure thing as you can get, and don't be surprised if you get into some big eyes too!

How late at night? Is this the general pattern for fall bass fishing? Even Irondequoit Bay?

  5. Was there today and watched 2 people drop there trailers off the end of the ramp. 1 person bent there axle on there trailer when trying to pull it out and they did not have a 4 wheel drive vehicle to pull it out, and bent the axles on the trailer pounding it on the end of the ramp to get it up and over the end. Some people just don't listen.

I saw a guy years ago rip the axle right off the trailer. I was trying hard not to laugh my ass off. Saw the remains of the trailer in the parking lot when I came back from the bay.

  6. Went to Braddocks Bay  first time in years in friends new boat. The water level is low as ever. Friend thinks water level down over just a few weeks ago. Any information on this> Who turned off the faucet?

  7. 7 bass Sunday the 21st. There was a east /northeast wind. (7:30 to 12) About 4 keepers, one almost 2 lbs. Northing to write home about. They were all shallow taken on the wacky worm. Nice day!!
