  1. Great Day fishing out of Olcott! Ran east to troll with the waves abck to Olcott about 8 miles. Caught fish all the way back to Olcott in 30-60 feet of water. Bumped the speed (2.5-2.9) up to try and eliminate some of the Lakers. Ended up with over 2 dozen fish on and landed around 20. 5 King (18lbs. largest), bunch of Lakers (15lb largest), bunch of coho, a few steelhead (small), and one 7.5 lb brown that had more girth than length. Caught fish on everything Spin Doctor/Fly, DW (green, Reef Runner cranks, Challenger cranks. Absolutely awesome day. We also trolled out to about 100 and there are plenty of large marks (Kings I expect) suspended 30-40 feet down over 80-100. Landed 2 Kings out there. I was very surprised at how empty the lot was at Olcott. We got there around 1pm. Fished 2pm-7pm. Fantastic fishing!!! Good luck out there, time to put the boat in Erie.

  2. Fished several days out of Wilson and had some good fishing.

Sat 5/2 - Was set up at about 7am and only had 2 rods in the water before we had our first laker. We fished from 90-150ft of water and pretty much anything was working as long as it was GREEN (spin docs and flyies and spoons). Ended up with 30 fish on and landed 5 coho, 5 Kings, and 14 lakers. Biggest King was 16lbs, but what a fight !

Fri 5/8 - Set up around the same time and same general area (90-150ft - west). Was much slower than last weekend. 10 on and landed 2 Kings, 2 Coho, and 3 Lakers.

Sat 5/9 - Bite was super slow for us. We only had 2 rods move all day after a late start @ 10am. Only two coho's to show for our efforts, but all in all a great few days fishing Lake O !

On to Erie, may put her in the slip this weekend...

  3. Great reports guys. I was looking to launch the boat for the year this weekend, but with Memorial Day that's not going to happen. Been doing good in Ontario, but now its time to head out for some eyes and get the boat in the water for the year !!

    Good Luck out there.

  4. Definately another slow day for us. Fished right outside of Olcott all the way down past the power plant and went 3-5 in the shallower water (20-30ft). Two browns and a steelie. All on spoons (lost 2 small coho at the boat).

Super slow bite. Decided to try out deeper and managed to go 2 for 3 on lakers.

Good day and fair fishing. Last weekend we had an epic day, but it was a great spring on Lake O.

Now there is time for another wash and wax before being dipped into Lake Erie in Dunkirk for the rest of the year.

Good Luck for the rest of the year. This site is definiately one of the best. I will post in the warm water section when we get out.

  5. Out again yesterday for a half day in the afternoon. A bit bumpy 2-3 footers... Could not move a single rod. Fished same water as Saturday and even tried west of Olcott...

East wind was COOOOOOOLD. Lake temps dramatically different than Sat. In front of Olcott and west we found warmer water surface 41, 10ft @ subtroll 43ish...

Down east we found COLD water 38 and 40ish...

May try Wilson or the bar on Sat.

  6. Its good everywhere inside 80fow. We were out last Saturday and went 26-33.... Absolutely crazy !!!

Browns, Lakers (tons of Lakers), Kings, Coho, and a few steelhead !!

    Absolutely fantastic fishing.

Didn't change the sticks or spoons all day. Green, Orange, Blue seemed to work.

Good luck out there. We will be out tomorrow afternoon looking for some bigger Kings. Largest was around 15 on Sat...

  7. We have been fishing the same area of off Myers and been doing very well on small fish. Got out Sat,Sun, and Wed. Did 12,7,11 but none over 3 lbs besides a couple of 6lb'ers.

I keep the boat at Chadwick so it may be time to dump her in the water down there for the year. Not sure if I will go to east of Dunkirk or down the lake on Sat (tward Barcelona)...

We have caught most of the fish on harness's in 28 to 40 ft. Great eaters and tons of fish there. Also tons of bass and even caught a Channel Cat on a 4 color lead.....

    Good Luck out there...

If your out on Sat give me a shout on the radio.

  8. Hi Guys,

Slow day out there for us. Started out at 8:00 am right out front in 60' and trolled all the way down past Tusc to 200'. Only had a single fish. This is only my third time out on Ontario in the last two years. I fish out of Dunkirk (Chadwick Bay) all summer. Would appreciate any tips you guys have (I have everything in terms of trolling in terms of rods/lures/etc).

    Here is what I ran (2.0mph -2.25mph) :

20 and 30 ft jets with tsticks (fire tiger black silver) off the big boards

DW spoons silver/green silver/orange off the riggers (30-90 down)

    Big Dispseys 100 (on 1) 180 (on 3) running a Renosky and a spoon.

Only fish lost was on Silver/green rigger 45' down.

Can't make it out this weekend, but I plan to give it a try in 2 weeks on Thursday or Saturday.

Another note: No-one was fishing near the harbor (except off the pier) for browns is that bite done ?

    Thanks for any help !!!

  9. Yea 3 years ago my girlfriend landed a 36lber...

We have caught many, many 20lb+ fish over the past couple of years. Adds some fun when you can catch the eyes and lakers in the same area.

  10. Hey Guys,

We really really have great fishery out there guys.

Was out this weekend between Dinkirk and Barcelona in about 140 ft.

Landed 5 Lakers and several walleye.

All the lakers were healthy big fish. Well fed too (judging by the smelt they spit up in my boat)

Walleye fishing continues to be good. Thanks Ray and "times two" for the tips on the chatter sticks. Green ones went very well. Actually ran 2 of the dipseys...

Here are a couple from the last couple of weeks:

  11. I should be out there sat and sunday also but am probably going to head deep with the tournwy this weekend.

Probably setup the same program with riggers deep and dipseys up top.

Good Luck see you on the water.

So what the big differnce with slides vs. dipseys ? I run dipsey on firline and seem to get good releases.....

What do the slides offer. Always looking for new tips tricks...

Really getting sick of running the big boards (otter boats). Just a pain if you don't have a crew out that knows what they are doing.

I have only been running dipsey's and riggers for the last 2 weekends...

  12. Thanks for the report.

Sorry for the late reports, but been doing fairly well around the 60 ft area off of Dunkirk.

Landed 16 eyes 2 weekends ago.

We went out last sat for some fun. Ran out to 140 and headed tward Kirk. Lakers are still right there, every year

We landed 4 biggest 22lbs (I'll post a pic later) and a few bonus walleye up top on the dipseys. Bright orange spoons the ticket on bottom.

Not two bad for 4 hrs...

Just ordered a few of those chatter sticks to try. I usually run harness, but thought I would give them a whirl. Any tips on running them ?

Will be out there this weekend.

    See ya on the water.
