Drove up to Mexico on Thursday morning, got there around 9 am . Wind blowing hard from NW over 15-20 mph . Huge waves . So we didn’t fish .Friday , Got to the launch around 6 am , 2 boats came in . I talked to a guy on the boat, he said it’s very rough. I asked how bad was the waves , he said 3 ft with 5 and 6 ft . So to make a long story short , I went out. It was rough . Found temp in 220 fow 90 ft down , but never moved a rod . Only fished a few hours , was getting beat up from the waves .

I like to start off with my probe rigger in 50-52 degree water . Then my other rigger 15-20 ft deeper than my probe rigger in colder water . Same with my dipseys. Then 2 rods above 50 degree in out of temp water. Once fish start hitting , then I know where to dial them in .

Great fish , can’t believe someone beat that fish in the derby. I thought you had it locked.

I wouldn’t run a wire diver down the chute. If a rigger rods fires, with a good fish . The wire could cut the mono off .

Today , I used one off my 30 lb rigger rods , loaded with fleas . So I used my 50lb rigger rod . It was clear of fleas.

I think you guys r thinking to much . I have the new fishhawk . If my rigger cable is down 100 ft and my fishhawk says 85 ft . But my fish finder is marking fish at 92 ft . I’m ok with that . I want my lures above the fish not below them . If the rigger fires , I’ll put it back down to the same spot . Don’t over think fishing .
