Left the dock around 3:30 for a late trip today. Picked up a small steel at the 27 on a flounder pounder at 40. Surface at 62 and 44 at 50.

Came in early due to one of the crew getting seasick. Sitting on the back porch watching the rain and listening to the thunder. Not a great start to the week, but we are here thru Thursday and hope for better to come.

When I rebuilt the trailer on my 17 footer I lowered the front and blocked. The I used a chain and come along to raise the front from a rafter in my garage. For the Sportcraft I took the trailer home after docking at Wiley's for the season and loaded when we took her home.

First trip of the season after replacing gas tanks all summer. Left the Oak around 6 and looked for fish able water. 45 degrees top to bottom out to 200'. Moved NE looking for temps. Started at 400' with surface at 62 and 44 down 50. First fish of the season is a small King on a white crush spin dr pulling a purple mirage fly out 124.

We are on our fifth season with ours running 16s with no problems.

The mat is a product called Dri-Dek. I used a shop mat for a couple of years but the uv was not kind to it and it was brittle after two seasons. Used the Dri-Dek for about four years now and it is still like new. It comes in one foot interlocking squares.

Thanks for the report. Encouraging info to spark the interest for our trip this weekend.

Hey it's functional and gets you on the water. If you want to get a nicer finish that's what winter is for! Go fishing!!
Sent from my thinking chair...
Fishing is the plan. Cleaned her up today, pack her tomorrow and head north on Saturday.

Actually, the plan is to just go fishing. Planning to be at the Oak Saturday afternoon through Thursday.

We chartered with Rick Hajecki and Bill Ruth before we ran our own boat on the lake. Invaluable.

It has a 15 foot finish. If you stand back 15 feet you can't see the flaws.

We have a mat made from a product called Dri-Dek that we cover it with. We did not put any other finish in the two coats of gel coat applied.

I have an older Magma table. I put a gimbal rod holder in the lid of the fish box to mount it.

We usually run a ten color on the port side and a seven color to starboard. Truthfully though, most of our action is off riggers and divers.

We added Chinook Divers to our spread a couple of years ago and they always help us put fish in the boat.

The tanks are 18" wide at the top and 16" wide on bottom. 10-1/2" and 6-1/2" high and 91" long. 55 gallons. They run from 6" in from of the transom to the back of the engine room bulkhead.
