  1. One thing I'd add is to look up the inside diameter of the specific arrow and spine that you're shooting. The Nockturnals come in five different diameters and a few arrows change inside diameter across spine selection while most others remain consistent.

  2. Got a chance to try most of the choices from Grizzly's in Hunt last year and although the breakfast sausage wasn't my preference, everything was perfectly packaged and REALLY good.  He also does a venison liverwurst (if you bring him the liver) that's amazing!

  3. I have been reading a lot of Dr. Ashby's research on broadhead and arrow design.  Very enlightening.  Here is a good synopsis.

So I priced out Easton FMJ heavy arrows and some heavy two blade broadheads and realized that I would be shooting fifty dollar bills at deer.  I think for whitetails we don't need to throw spears but I think I will shoot the rest of my expandables up and go back to slick tricks.

Right there with you.  I get to talk to bow hunters all day (high point of the new job), from the guy that was "good enough" with ONE slightly crooked aluminum arrow and a used Muzzy to the new bowhunter that insisted on starting with two dozen 5.5mm FMJ w Deep Six inserts, 9 Rage Hypo BH and 9 Nockturnals. Both extreme examples but I'm betting that old used broadhead drops another deer before the newbie gets his first.

I tried the original Rage last season and haven't been impressed so far, jury still out.  I'll add Legacy shock collars and try again but I'm carrying my already-proven Muzzy fixed blade BH as backup.

  5. I didn't get up this year fishing due to my brothers battle with cancer, but he was in partnership in a hunting camp in up stateNY and I got invited to take his place this year and I must say I'm exited to get to hunt NY state white tails.I don't know exactly where it is but it's not far from the WigWam bar. I was at that bar once while I used to snowmobile a lot up there. I think the last I rode sled up there was back in 2000. We are coming up the week before Thanksgiving!!

Just east of Booneville - I love it up there!

  6. Took my buddy Justin(newbie)out for his first time on the big lake. Set up in 90 fow and headed east. Set first rigger at 70 with get r done 28 and took a brownie almost instantly. Landed a nice 6lber took some pics. After getting rods set we took another brown on same set up and a small king on sea sick mag down 85.Turned west for another pass and then it was on. 2 yr old king on white green dot spinny and fly. Reset hoping for a screamer. Sea sick fires at 85 rigger, I grab the rod and handed it off to justin and the line starts peeling. He was in awe of the power of these fish and I smiled and continued giving instructions. I turned the rpms down so he could enjoy the fight and then the 70 rigger fires with another screamer. Doubled up with big kings, gets no better than this. We landed both fish, both around 20lb mark. Worked the area east from 8- noon, 80-115 fow. Total 8 for 8. 4 kings 4 browns. Great weather, fishing, and company equaled another awesome trip on the big lake.

Another fisherman, hooked for life.  Way to go!
