  1. Took my brothers from the fire dept out of the river. Fished 7am- 10:30. Worked 100-215. Closer early and deeper later. Started out bad with 2 quick dispey hits but gone before anyone could get to a rod. Then rigger hit and gone. After that the fish cooperated. Lost one more after a few minute fight. Ended up 5-9. All kings and a nice bow. Buddy caught his biggest fish and then beat that with a 22 pounder. 50 degree water was up higher than Thurs. 60 foot down today compared to 90 on thurs. Best was wire diver out 210 with gold 42 SD and atomik fly. 2nd was fat Nancy flasher/atomik fly down 60 on rigger. No spoon hits today.

    Happy 4th!!

  2. Took 2 guys out and left the dock at 6am. Worked 100-220. 1st fish was on rigger down 80 over 200. E chip / fly, fish came unbuttoned only to find out the fish bent the treble hook bad on the fly. Next 2 were a double on aerobatic bows that crossed lines but we landed both. 2 more small kings and 2 more bows. Fished 5 rods and they all took fish. Fat Nancy e chip with green hammer fly took the most fish and the biggest with NK 28 black front with yellow tape with white back came in 2nd. Same NK but Mag took a fish. Riggers out produced wire dipseys today which is rare for me. Wires were at 210 and 240. Riggers were down 80, 75, 60. 50 degree water was down 80 for us over 200. Best day for 2021 for me. Good luck out there!

  3. I have always done A. When a fly gets really bad I will double it up with the same fly. Makes it bushier. Maybe I have been doing it wrong but A has caught lots of fish for me.

  4. Originally I commented on what you asked about using the ones you had but I have to agree with the group on it you have the option I would install a track with good rod holders. I have Bert’s track on my boat and still put a plate underneath for extra strength. I have cannon dual axis rod holders for dipseys as love them.

  5. Can you reach under the gunwale? If so I would get a metal plate cut the same size and the rod holder base. Clamp the plate to base and drill holes through the plate using the holes on the rod holder. Put rod holder where you want it and drill though the gunwale and using stainless bolts, washers and locking nuts attach the plate underneath the gunwale. Thicker the plate the better. This is what I did with my tracks on my boat. Dipseys rods have a lot of pressure on them. Maybe someone else will have a better idea. Any questions message me.

  6. Took 2 guys out this morning. Was greeted with NE winds like predicted. Love how the new boat handles rough water. Fished 6-10. Worked 70-200 with 75 being best water. Went 1-4, with all flasher fly hits down 50-65 over 75-80. 1 guy was happy with a fish and other just likes driving my boat.

  7. Took some buddies out and fished same waters as Whaler. 90-500. Marked a few fish and very little bait. Best screen was in 90. Had 1 rigger release on a spoon down 64 over 250. Guys had fun but a few fish would have made it better. We did have a guest out in 450. Still better than working. IMG_5343.JPGIMG_5344.JPG

  8. Dickey and I worked hard this morning but never found Browns.
We trolled 100 to 150 on the way back from Cowsucker looking for Kings with the same results.
Funky, only saw one other boat all morning from Braddocks to Hamlin.
Was really a fun trip. Great conversation with someone I met on this site and all in all a perfect morning, a couple of screaming reels would have been nice but still a fun morning on the lake.

Thanks for taking me out and had a great time and good conversation. Hope we can do it again.

  9. Also fished off Braddock on Wednesday from about 745 to 1115 any where from 60 to 150 ft of water.  Also marked lakers on the bottom and occasionally some fish at 40-50 ft.  Had 3 releases but no hookups.  All the releases were in the 50 to 670 ft range and way off  the bootom so maybe small fish (coho) that just could not hook up.  Did not mark any bait pods either.   Tough day!  I also saw that boat in the high grass and wondered what the story was.  Thanks for sharing that info.  Could be very tough getting that boat out of there.  Hopefully no one was seriously hurt/injured. - Mr Kato

No injuries. Was an interesting call to say the least. Lol

  10. If only they had a dog, guns and camo it would be a great PY duck hunting picture.

Funny you mentioned a dog. There was a dog on board. We (Lakeshore FD) got dispatched on the call at 9:42 on sat night. Multiple people on board. He said he was fishing and new to area. Said he was going 25mph and just buried it. Heard they tried to pull it out Sunday and it ripped the cleats off. We put the fire boat in at Braddocks on the 15th and had 2 rescue calls already. Hopefully I won’t meet any of you out there while I am on the fire boat. Be safe
