As I sit here bored at work stuck staring at Lake Erie, I start thinking how the 2023 season will pan out. I plan on changing my standard spread this year to see what transpires, obviously hoping to catch more and larger salmon, steelies and 'hos. Compared to last year's overall fishery and outcomes, how do y'all think this year will compare?

I have a 92 Baha 250 fisherman with an inboard. I bought a lowrance elite FS and a Garmin Echomap UHD 93sv to replace the 2 that came with the boat. Do the sonars need to go on the starboard side ? Is on better than the other with either mapping or 2d sonar ? Currently the only thing that is on the back of the boat is a set of trim tabs and a fishhawk on the port side. Thanks
I was in the same situation you are, with a high end transom mount 'ducer. Switched to what Rick suggested above and couldn't be happier. Switched to the B60, which was a 'weaker' transducer, but was MUCH clearer, MUCH better picture when cruising and a lot less noise when trolling.

Nope. Highest it got was 40% coverage back in early Feb.

Riggers - 25lb Suffix Superior Hi Vis yellow. I like seeing where my lines are when fighting fish, as well as where the lines are at the back of the boat.
Wire - Malin. Tried Blood Run, I wasn't a fan.

Been using them for years for salmon, never an issue

Had this issue a while back. Seems there is a new version of the app I needed to install. Been good since.

We've done a bit of experimentation. Don't get me wrong, some of it was a bit sketchy. But so far, still have all fingers and toes and no negative consequences.

Do not throw them in a campfire.
Why not? They make decent fire starters.
Another option is using it as a flame source next to a pound or two of tannerite and water bottle of gasoline :). Right after it rains of course.....for obvious reasons

So someone school me on this. If it's muddier/greener than normal, how does that impact the western end of Lake O come April/May?

If you're willing to separate, shoot me a PM

TTT. Will be at Niagara Fishing Expo in a few weeks in case someone outside the area is interested and won't have to ship.

Just a cube or so in my whiskey. Other than that, give it a week. Gunna be chilly and may freeze over some shallow bodies of water.

Amount of growth/zebras can depend on the current. My father keeps his boat in a marina with very little current, and hey gets a zebras, and a decent amount of growth (unpainted bottom). This is also in Lake Ere if it makes a difference. At the end of the year he cleans with muriatic acid (get it at a pool store.....MUCH cheaper. Wear mask/gear as it's some nasty stuff). I keep mine at the Oak where there is some current. Painted bottom, growth is very minimal, and some zebras collect on trim tabs, but nothing too bad. Unfortunately, can't speak on any outboard info, but always see them up and out of the water.

Talk to 'troubles' here on the forum. I've picked up some meat rigs with RHYS and John King heads. He may have some to sell
