  1. Thinking about an upgrade but need to sell current boat to do so first. Electronics package includes Furuno 585 w/ thru hull, Raytheon 24 mile radar, Fishhawk x4, Lowrance gps, Raymarine 6001 Autopilot, hydraulic steering, (4) Cannon electric downriggers, Big Jon electric planer mast. Twin screw Volvo Penta 351 fords with Volvo Penta transmissions. Motors have 4030 hours and have been meticulously maintained. All nav lighting has been upgraded to led as well as fishing deck accent and spreader lights. Boat also has drip less shaft packings and is a very dry bilge. Very nice upholstery. Actual size is 28.5' x 10.5' beam. Boat is a documented vessel currently operating as a charter out of Point Breeze, NY. Oak Orchard River, docked at Lake Breeze Marina. There is no trailer included in sale. A very clean baha, asking $25,000. For further information contact Bob Eder (570) 971-7402

  3. Actually you do not need a pump, use gravity. I connected a short section of male end garden hose to the fake a lake. Ran the hose up over the transom to where I stood near the engine. Place a large funnel in open end of hose and dump 5 gals. of the pink through the funnel making sure you have a good stream of pink liquid exhausting through engine. Additionally, I would have spark arrestor off and can of foggit near by. When last of antifreeze was poured into funnel I would spray foggit into throat of carb until engine stalled. Done  Winterized for many years in this manner with no issues in spring. Make sure your engine is warmed up with water connection first. If you have a lot of water pressure do not turn hose on full, monitor your temp. gauge. It's really not an involved job once you have everything you need.

  4. Use just enough split shot to feel your presentation ticking the rocks , if you do not hang up occasionally, your not fishing deep enough. With a fly rod, using a lob cast, your presentation is in the water a much greater amount of time, since there is no reeling in at the end of the drift then recasting, reeling in your slack etc.... Natural colored egg patterns this time of year, with salmon in the water column, are the ticket most days..

  5. Just received the news a short time ago that Capt. Jim Shambaugh of Luv2fish Charters, out of the Point Breeze, NY area, has passed away after a more than year long valiant fight with cancer. Anyone who knew Jim will remember his quirky sense of humor, always looking for a way to get a smile out of you. Jim and I traveled together while going through our captains' training in the Rochester area. To say the least there was never a dull moment when "Shammy" was near by. Jim's business was appropriately named for the man had a true passion for fishing, whether on his boat or stream side. When he wasn't fishing a Lake Ontario trib, he was back home chasing the trout around in his home waters. Most importantly was the fact that Jim was a Vietnam veteran who was wounded during a tour of duty, although, he never really talked about it much. Thank you Jim, for your service to our country, putting a smile on a clients' face, and allowing myself to call you friend.... RIP my friend,  FISH ON!

  6. Set the legislation, charge the fee, and the law abiding out of state captain will pay the fee, as he or she already does, concerning licensing, drug testing, liability insurances, once needed twic cards, income taxing, etc....  The costs associated with another license is really not that big of an added deal, as I see it, it would just be handed down to the client. Although, as already reported in this thread, I also believe your bigger problem revolves around a number of non-licensed captains who are bringing their people up from their home states and charging the same type of operating fee's, on a lesser scale than the licensed captain, under the table to offset their own expenses for their recreational activities. They would not pay your added out of state fee, to begin with, and there are a considerable number of boats, around Lake O, who I believe would fall into this category, my opinion.

  7. Typically, clients who spend their hard earned monies on a charter do not want a box of small fish to show for their efforts. Charters most often will pull off pods of these juveniles, when located, and search out better quality fish for their crews. Three silvers of 15" in size doesn't make for much of a bag of fillets for the persons traveling back to their home state with. It tends to become a production element for the captain, not that I believe box fulls of quality sized fish should be the only reason for myself and crew being on the water. Being out there on a beautiful day will always out weight a box full in my book. But, it's high on the list of actions that generally brings the client(s) back.

If you want to keep a legal fish, enjoy the meal, but I do not think there are many captains on Lake O keeping them simply to boost their box numbers, my opinion.
