  1. We will be holding our March meeting at the Timber Tavern Bar & Grill in Syracuse on March 9th at 6:00 PM.

Join us at 5:30 PM if you’d like to grab a bite to eat before the meeting.

For those that cannot make it, we will provide a means to participate remotely (details to follow).

We hope to see you there!

  2. Our first meeting will be this Friday, January 12 at 6:30PM. We will be in the meeting room at the Bass Pro Shops in Utica. The officers in attendance will introduce themselves and we will discuss our vision for the chapter. We will also go over positions we are looking to fill and our 2018 events.

Unfortunately, we will not have the means at this meeting to host “online” participation for those who cannot attend. We apologize about this, it is something very important to us and we will be working hard to have it set up for our February meeting.

Any new members that sign up at the meeting will receive a free bait and decal.

We hope to see you there, snacks will be provided 1f600.png !

  4. A group of us recently started a Muskies Inc. Chapter for the CNY area; Muskies Inc. Central New York Chapter 70. We will be working towards maintaining and improving fisheries in the throughout the state with a focus in CNY. This includes promoting catch & release, educating, assisting with stocking efforts, youth and community involvement, and much more. If this sounds like something you’d like to be a part of, please check out the new chapter.

Our first meeting will be Friday January 12, 2018 at 6:30PM at the Bass Pro Shops in Utica, NY. We will be discussing our goals, the upcoming year, as well as discussing remaining positions. All are welcome to attend and we hope to see you there.

We will also have a booth at the New York Sportsman’s Expo from Friday January 26th through Sunday January 28th (NYS Fairgrounds). Come on out and meet some of the officers and talk fishing with us. We will be hosting a seminar discussing muskie and opportunities here in CNY. The time and date are still in the works but we will update this post once it is finalized.

We are excited to start this club and look forward to meeting others who share the same passion we do. Tight lines!

  6. That maybe too much OleMan, tough to tell bc we don't have early sign up which woulda given us an estimate. I voted for early sign up thru paypal but that was shot down last meeting by the board.

Zach- what was the reason PayPal registration was not approved? That seems like a perfect solution for tourneys, especially where there are multiple launches. I would think it'd help ease any congestion for signup the morning of the event as well...

  7. I saw a video last week showing water above the docks/walkway at Boldt Castle. My wife's family was up at their camp on Saturday and said the water was the highest they've ever seen it (I'd estimate ~6'-8' high based on their description).

I'd call the TI Baitshop before heading out to see if they can confirm. Good luck and be safe out there!

  8. First off- I think it is important to hear everyone's opinion on stuff like this.

With that being said- I don't see how encouraging kids to enter a tournament changes the format of the tournament or affects somebody fishing the tournament without a kid?

Chances are, you would only see the kids after the tournament and only in passing while on the water, so in theory, your fishing would be exactly the same. After the tournament, you would probably see the kid(s) at the cookout but you aren't obligated to spend time with them, you could shoot the breeze with others as you normally would (and get ice cream too!)

I brought 2 of my nephews last year to the tiger tourney and I don't think anyone had an issue or even really noticed they were there (although to be fair they took off midday because of other plans).

Either way, I'll bring anyone that wants to fish along with me, regardless of age, and still have a good time because it sure beats working around the house.

PS- Kudos to those of you volunteering/donating things for the raffle tables (regular & kids)! I'm hoping one day I'll be able to add to the table...
