  1. The launch is fine but the docks are only about 4 inches above water. We just trolled West Friday and Saturday. Picked up 4 nice Browns just around the last bluff before Port Bay. All on Bay Rats. We were in close but the power cord on my graph shorted and had to troll blind. New cord came today. Hope to be back out Sunday.

nice work! what were your most productive bay rat colors?

  2. I just built one using an arduino board. I used the Jack Thompson plans and computer code that you can find on you- tube. He built it for his sailboat. I am almost ready to try it on the water. I have about $300--$350 in it, and that includes the 12 volt linear actuator motor from fergilli automation, used to steer the kicker motor/main outboard. The motor costs about $140. So, if you are a do it yourselfer, or don;t want to spend thousands, you can try it.

have a link for the autopilot plans? sounds interesting!

  3. I placed the nauticus pro troll smart tabs on my 2012 starweld pro 18. This helped with the porpoise issue gave us a better hole shot and added about 3mph to the top end. These trim tabs also have a trolling mode where you can put them full down working like a trolling back was able to use that to slow the boat down to 1.5 mph. I've never had any steering issues. Towne marine was where we purchased it and haven't had any unresolved issues. we did subsequently purchase a kicker motor which had some challenge doing the install due to the trim tabs. I was able to finally get a kicker mount that worked out the issues. This needed a change in the control cables and Towne Marine shipped out replacements with no problem. Hope you get the issues sorted out if you would like pics of the trim tab setup let me know.
