Downsizing and putting up for sale the coolest fishing boat I have ever owned.  I am the third owner and this boat is a trollers dream.    Alumaweld is a west coast manufactured welded aluminum ocean style boat like Hewescraft, weldcraft, woodridge, duckwoth, crestliner.  Huge fishing area and seating for 6 adults with a forward helm with hydraulic seats.    This vessel was first delivered in 2009 to the Lake Michigan area and then was sold to a gentleman from the eastern basin of Lake O and some may have seen it before.  I have had it for about 8 years and it has been home based out of Lake Champlain/George.  The boat was set up perfectly for great lakes fishing by the previous owner.  Trac system/Great Lakes Planer system perfectly laid out.  Boat trailers easy behind a ½ ton truck.  I made a few trips across the state to fish the Bar and even took 1st in the Spring LOC Walleye Division.  I will be updating the listing and pictures as I have them.  This boat is perfect for trailering between ports and chasing the kings around the lake.

  2. This motor has the extra long shaft and was set up on my boat with a helm control as a kicker with autopilot.   The cable broke and I changed it out for a new unit with tiller handle.  This is the perfect unit for a guy who needs parts.  I used it two seasons and I know the guy I bought it from used it a number of seasons   I am located in Queensbury, NY 12804.  Text 518-528-1465 $500 takes it. $600 if you wanna dicker. May trade for a jon boat

I was wanting to make my first trip to Lake O before now but from all reports I have received the fishing has been off so far this season. I am planning of a 3 day trip the end of the month somewhere from Sodas to Henderson. I have a 20' Duckworth I will bring from Maine. So is there any indication the fishing will improve or is that the million dollar question? I spoke to a charter captain two days ago that said its the worst year for browns he has ever seen.

It seems odd to me considering the lack of fishing pressure the south shore got last spring due to Covid restrictions. Seems like the fish that did not get caught last spring would have made for a better then normal spring this year.

So where would be the best area for me to consider starting in 10 days from now?

    Thanks

Great boat!  I run a 20’ welded Alumaweld Intruder!   I prefer the Bar first two weeks of May. Fishing can be just plain stupid....  then again you get a hard northeast wind it will be a ghost town. Lol.  I like Oswego the last two weeks of July.  This year I am going to fish out of Port Bay July 9-19   Fleas get bad mid July at times...  most likely a whole new ballgame for you. Booking a reputable charter is well worth the $$.   If you are only coming for 3 days leave the boat home and go with charter.   Might not even get out of port with a 20’.

Does anyone have a Slide Diver Depth Chart for braided line? We are running 30lb braided line and the Slide Diver with a magnum weight and a big ring. We don't have any information on them on a 2 setting 3 setting etc? Any help is appreciated. Thank you .

I think the rule of thought is 3/1.  Regular.  And 2.5.  Or 2/1 with added weight and ring.   Your speed and lake o currents gonna put that to the test.  Best thing is to keep adjusting your setup to it fires or hits bottom.

  5. Thanks for the insight.  All of the kings we got on long coppers and wire dipsys we picked off bottom and they were hogs.  Our biggest for the week was 25 pounds and 36.5 inches. Broke a number off that size as well.  Our biggest laker was 36"  and 19 pounds.   Not bad for never catching a king before.   We fish Champlain and George.

  6. Maybe I should be asking what part of the upper water column I should be working.  I saw lots of surfacing fish offshore and felt like I was missing out.  Tried flatling a few sticks off the boards over the deep water that didn't produce.  Inshore we did well with sticks off boards and spoons off riggers for the browns & coho.

  7. 2nd year to the bar in May and was wondering how many colors of lead guys are running offshore for Kings/coho?  Did well with 200,250 & 300 coppers and had great rigger bites from 30-60 down along with wire dipsys.  Looking to add some more junk to the spread as it is so fun clearing lines in a fire drill:ninja:

Probably the least understood factor in trolling with spoons is how important is the connection of the lure to the line.

1.Tying the line direct to a front ring.

    2. Tyling the line to a duo-lock snap and removing the front ring

    3. Attaching the snap to the front ring which requires  the most speed of all.

This pertains to all spoons ... not just HONEYBEES.

    See http://www.tamiron.com/Articles.asp?ID=257

Thanks for pointing that lure connection out to me a few years ago jim!  Matty and I smoked the Kings at the bar.  Large & mag  bees with ring cut off and ran with the snap.  Headed home tomorrow.  Took a few browns and cohos on a small size bee in pink!.  Old school greens and chartreuse ruled

Really surprised nobody mentioned running evil eyes and old honey bee spoons they are hard to beat spring fishing for brown trout along with a single hook you can literally bounce them off rocks and they hardly ever snag bottom.

Honeybee spoons are still available and are a year round staple for the Lake Champlain guys.
