  1. How's everyone been staying busy this off season?

I bought a 175 Sea Nymph a couple weeks ago after seeing people catching browns in December and February and decided I needed a small boat for that sort of thing. Guy had it for $500 needed a floor, checked spark, compression and the hull for popped rivets or gashes. Had none so I bought it. I have the floor pulled out ready for the new stuff to go back in and bought marine vinyl at Jo-Ann Fabric to redo the interior besides the seats. Found downrigger bases on here and a planer mast and new boards on CL. Should be ready to go after this weekend. 2. I read a couple of the posts last week about people catching Browns in the lake with the mild weather and then yesterday found myself on Craigslist frantically trying to find a cheap 17+ foot aluminum boat to maybe go try. Also walking around at the mall yesterday waiting for my phone to get fixed I realized I was making the sounds of a screaming drag out loud without thinking about doing it. It's about that time.

  3. I'm just saying some people have lack of time with having kids , so they are going to take anything . Didn't say anything about feeding them with it but they do eat good. Can't eat antlers. Trophys nice but as time goes on in the season or little time available the gun goes bang. No need to have a rule on how big the rack should be. It's how many are taken a year . Some people think... in 2 days I will have another buck tag for gun then muzzle so I'll take this 4pt. Bet if 1 buck all season they would pass that 4 pt.

I'm gonna say that's not a good argument because hunting shouldn't be about killing a deer. If you have a short amount of time and need meat you can shoot a doe, if you have a short amount of time available to hunt and don't want/need the meat then why are you going to shoot a small buck? Just to say you filled your tag and be able to puff your chest out to your buddies? I think it's important to be able to go out and shoot what you want but with some legislation it would be as easy for people to kill 2.5yo plus bucks as it is to kill 1.5yo's now. Like someone said earlier and I made the same point on a big blowout Facebook argument about it, not every hunter is a trophy hunter and not every hunter is a meat hunter but EVERY HUNTER wants to shoot a big buck.

On another point I think it's funny that people who are "meat hunters" act like they're always under attack when I see them giving a lot more people guff for not shooting a 2.5 year old than anyone does for them shooting a 1.5 year old. It's usually the same people who give me a ton of crap when I tell them I throw salmon back in the lake.

  4. Awesome buck Rob! Nothing like sticking it out after a long, hard season and getting it done in crunch time.

I wanted to get out one last ditch effort to fill some sort of tag but I had finals at school the last two days and I'm leaving for Antarctica in the morning for the Air Force. When I get back in February it'll be count down to boat buffing season which leads to the countdown for brown trout, which starts the countdown for salmon season which inevitably starts the countdown to bow season and then the cycle starts all over again. Once again it was awesome following along with all you guys from October 1st until now, congrats again to everyone who had the chance to harvest a deer this year and good luck to those still putting the work in for one. They're moving still for sure, on my way home from Oswego tonight I saw 1 probable shooter and 1 nice big shooter buck cruising fields just at dark. Paul

  5. That's one hell of a deer, ya I don't even have a watch, I hunt with a scope, leupold VXIII 4.5-14 50mil I don't hunt till I need a light, 10 min +or- what's the differance, if it that makes that big of deal to ya, you need medicine, because jealousy is a terrible thing!!! Calling Dan a outlaw is ridiculous, I guess you never to ten minutes of break at work, you never went 47 in a 45mph zone, pull your skirt up and leave this site, we didn't have a issue till the turkey talked. I got broad shoulders there short spur. Congrats Dan youll always be my freind

Those 50mm VXIII's you could stay in the stand all night. Me and my dad both have 3.5-10s on our .270s and .300. And I'll also agree that nobody has a shooter buck walk out in front of them and says hey weather.com said I could've shot him 3 minutes ago but no way I'm doing it now and if you know someone who has it's more than likely a buck fever cover story for why the deer didn't go for a pickup truck ride.

  6. I'd say it's pretty considerate of him to even do what he's doing for hunters. You can thank the people who move into houses near real MX tracks then cry about the noise until they get them shut down or only allowed to be open when leaves are on the trees from 3-5pm on saturdays.
