Just installed my helix 7 chrip unit on my boat.
What settings have you guys found work best for these?
I am using the XNT 9 HW T chrip transducer -
So do these routes make sense:
1 line from main tank to water fuel separator, 2 lines out of water fuel separator, 1 going to main motor other going to kicker, both having check valves on them and a primer bulb for kicker.
OR
1 line from main tank to fuel separator, 1 line out of separator to 3 way fuel valve , 2 lines out of 3 way. 1 to kicker with primer bulb, other to main

Also looking to plumb my 9.9 4 stroke merc into my i/o main, I have came across many different ways while researching, But have yet to determine the best ,fail proof way

for my inside (shorter rod) divers i use diawa wilderness 8'6" meadium heavy rods model WDDR862MHR
not specifically called out as diver rods but i use them with #5 chinook divers and just replaced the tips with twilli tips. they are some of my favorte rods to hit a king on. very budget friendly way to start out and figure out your exact preferences before dropping tons of money on gear.
If I was only to run one diver a side, would you run it as a high or low diver? and what rod length would be best?

Looking for recommendations on a decent rod to be used for a wire diver setup.
It will be ran off the side of my 17' boat with a rigger and long line. Would like to stick to a closed eye rod just due to price of the rollers
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Can anyone recommend a mooching rod to be used obviously with a mooching reel on a down rigger?

Starboard is fine. It is generally recommended to be no less than 8" from the keel.
Yes but then that looks like it would interfere with the kicker motor

I am in the process of setting up a "new" to me boat. Going to be installing a Helix 7 2D sonar unit and am looking for some advice on transducer placement location.
As you can see in the attached picture the previous owner had the skimmer mounted on the starboard side out towards the edge. From what i have read most manufactures recommend mounting on the starboard side due to the rotation direction of the prop but My kicker will be also mounted on that side. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Looking at purchasing some 30 size okuma reels. Are the cold waters worth the extra bit of money over the convectors for a weekend warrior?

Hey guys I just purchased a late 80's Wilker Galaxie 17 foot with mercury I/O. Which is in immaculate condition.
I will be adding a 9.9 merc 4 stroke kicker and plumbing it into the main tank.
Looking for advice and any recommendations from those who have rigged these boats for fishing.
- Where did you guys store your caught fish? did you mount a cooler somewhere ? as these boats don't have a live well
- Has anyone mounted a trolling motor on the front to aid is steering (auto pilot) ??
- Any recommendations as to where I can purchase a High Bimini top?
Please post any pictures you have I would love to see some of these older boats.
Thanks Tight Lines!!!! -

what test of core did you use?
what do you mean 30ft of 30 lbs tesT?
so you put 360ft of 50lb braid and then your full core then leader?
does it damage the lead if you do not have it all in the water
example spooled with 10 colours and only put 5 out?
-
if i used 18lb test do you think i could get a whole 10 colour on
-
Hey guys I am new to the whole leadcore set up.
Im looking to spool up my daiwa 47LC with some core.
Was planning on using some braid as backing
and suggestions on if i should go with 18 or 27 lbs test core?
should i run full 10 colour and then a leader?
or should i segment the colours with sections of braid?
i am looking to fish lake o bronte area and also a few trips to erie for the eyes
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
