  1. Went out the last couple of days trying to put a few in the boat.  Swing and a miss both days.  Had one on each day but I guess it just wasn't meant to be.  Started out at 80ft and worked out to 170 FOW.  Water temps were warm.  Going to head back out tomorrow and take a run out to 300 FOW and start working back to shore.  Hopefully the deeper water is holding the fish.  Not too sure where they are hiding, but I only marked a few in quite a few hours.  Ran spoons and SD with fly.  Fingers crossed the boat floor gets slimy tomorrow.

    Good luck fishing.

  2. Another beautiful day out on the water resulting in 6 fish and 3 misses. 4 Chinook and 2 Rainbows all in 200-225ft of water with a lure depth of 40-45ft on dipseys. Watermelon seemed to be the lure of choice today in the sunny weather with a black, orange and silver NK catching the rest. Tried fishing closer to shore with a couple of hits but no takers. All in all, a great day on the water!!

    SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS

    ====================

    Best day I have had out on the water so far this year and sharing it with my father and watching his face as the bows were leaping out of the water made it that much better!!

    I use dipseys tied to 30lbs P-Line braid and leader the spoons with 25lbs flurocarbon. I prefer to use the braid as there is no stretch in the line and am able to really see just how much wobble the spoons are putting out. I find that there is also much less drag in the water having such a small diameter line like the braid and gives a more accurate lure depth.

    Good luck and happy fishing!

  4. Another beautiful outing producing the golden goose egg. Fished the mouth of Oshawa harbour, squat. Fished the mouth of Duffins creek, squat. Fished outflow of Pickering Nuclear, seen quite a few trout ranging from pan sized to 10+lbs. Trout were schooling very closely to one another, no hits with a few followers. Changed lures and added scents, squat. Aside from catching no fish, great day on the water washing lures with great company.

    Lures used: J-11(Various colours), spoons, spinners and even tried a white tube jig.

    Water temps: Oshawa Harbour 46, Duffins Mouth 49, Pick Nuke Outflow 64. Yes you read it right, 64. I thought the temp sensor in my transducer went for a crap.

    Happy Fishing

    Mike

  5. I am hoping someone out there can help me out. I am very new to fishing lake ontario and have had some trouble with my adjustable releases on my downriggers. I am using 30 lbs P-Line braid and was wondering if this Walker Spring release is only meant to be used on mono as the line is much thicker than that of the braid? As well, is there a proper way to snap the line into the release, whether snapping in it from the top or the bottom? Any information on this setup or any advice for catching trout and salmon on the big "o" would be much appreciated.

    P.S. Whitby marina is where I launch out of. Not sure if anyone has any info on fishing reports from that area.
