  1. I think most guys with I/O are pulled and winterized, with the threat of snow and below freezing temps down here in the Pocono's I'm putting the pink juice to mine tomorrow, so I think to northern guys have mission complete.
  2. I see your port is Watkins Glenn, that's big racing town, there ought to be a good machine shop in the area. When I did my motor I went through a local machine shop and he did a great job, ordered all the gaskets kits, did the heads, crank, bored block .030 got the same cam everything came through him he could get the gaskets cheaper than I and they were all Fel-Pro put everything together myself and saved a bundle. ooh and a brand new oil pump it was around $900.00 all said and done. That's just the motor, I put new exhaust manifolds on new intake and new water thermostat hsgn. new water/exhaust shutters in lower y pipe, and new 2 barrel intake. old carb was a 2 barrel Holley supposed to be special for marine and to flow 500cfm, only 100cfm less than a 4 barrel.
  3. What a buddy of mine did was write everything down what is worth, don't drive yourself nuts with every little thing but the majority of the bigger things and what people would be after, with it's value and gave it to relation so if the day came she wouldn't be bombarded with the whole life/death thing, believe me, people are ruthless when it come to stuff like that. I saw greed take over with my own family, my two sisters, the one well she's no longer my sister, just for an instance!! the majority will be very understanding and there will be a few who will walk all over her if she's not prepared. If you think she will have a bird when she know the value or what you spent, then give it to someone you can trust, and maybe there for her also when the time comes. Hope this help. It's only 5 years since my dad passed, I would trade most anything for one more day. But wouldn't want to go through that day again.
  4. Whooo, horse what the hell happened, I'm sitting here recovering from back surgery, got to meet the doc for the first time in 3 weeks, and things didn't quite go the way I was hoping. So still a little in shock from that trip, sitting here wondering what the hell I'm going to do, I have to go back in 3 weeks to see if any improvement is made, kind a in the dumps. Then I see this and wonder what would make a man start a thread of this magnitude? I know you say your alright now that's good!! Then you think that some one else almost died. How bad can my situation be?? Either way it sucks, hope for the best and go with it!!! I know years back when we first got married we went to a attorney and had a will made up, because of the my daughters age 8 and there was no way this rotten tax engulfing state was going to get anything we worked our butts off for and put things in the girls name already so they don't have to pay inheritance tax, but yea my fishing stuff goes to one and my guns go to the other, just hope they don't change what they like to do. At least is theirs and not the states!!
  5. I think what you guys are doing with the signs is great!! Like nr surf&turf said those guys don't give a dam about the muskies nor will they even take notice to the signs and a lot of others, since Justin has made this lake a walleye lake I don't mean it in a bad way, but look back over the posts. I know many folks that want to try their hand at a walleye and I'm one of them, the walleye are very nice size and with the stocking people know that they will be there. That being said the old school guys don't want to hear anything about musky preservation in walleye land. Maybe the younger Gen that are educated that a walleye will eat a musky will be the ones to focus on and I believe that's where this is going. But the older guys when they start bending up their $7-12.00 rig are going to get mad and wont pay any attention to a survival type release for a musky, and take precious time to rerig when their competition is casting away, hell those guys don't care about the bass either it's all about the NAME & FAME. What you guys are doing is a good thing and there is going to become a time when we all need to take a step back and take a good look at what we are doing or not doing, you guys are taking the first step toward what we SHOULD be doing, congrats on your effort. Justin and some others around Otisco lake are dedicated and determined to make a difference, but to do this it might take some (Speaking your knowledge about the fishery face to face at time to get through this grey area) Good luck and stand your ground!!
  6. Great idea for the go pro and thanks for the great pics. Things slow up this time of the year so pic are a added bonus for us not as lucky as some to be able to fish much this time of the year. We are forced to stand back and watch as for the camp grounds close and it's fish our home town lakes or watch the fishing channel and work on our gear till next spring or the Ice season. Congrats. on your catch keep the tigers on their toes.
  7. congrats on your catch!!! I got to hand it to you musky guys cast and troll all day for 1 fish then jump up and down and carry on over one fish. you guy got the patients of a saint. Carry on guys at least there is something to read about. There must be some sort of adrenalin high you get once you catch one of these beasts!!
  8. If it was anybody else I would he hesitant to believe such a formula works, as I think the Hawk uses pressure to determine the depth, but Larry's theory is a keeper for he is definitely a credible person!! not only with this depth speed thing (no disrespect by I'll stay with the hawk) but being able to put muskies in the boat like that man has done over the years is absolutely incredible, and then go to South America and be a guide that takes dedication and talent. He takes people fishing on expeditions of a life time in Guyana!! Read more about Larry Guyana Eco Fishing and Adventure tours, if it works for him maybe others will be able to come up with a thesis. and save $750.00 which would could be used elsewhere. Thanks for all the thought that was put into the thread. PAP
  9. I usually only have one other guy with me my uncle, and this year a good friend from the Oswego area, who has a camper down past Port Ontario who is going too take us for browns, he says it's complete mayhem when they are in. Since he keeps his boat up there and their camp opens a month before ours we are chomping at the bit to go. On the other hand he want's to go for walleye so that will make for 3 guys and 9 rods. I got some great info and a new theory so we will see what happens, One thing to remember about Lake Ontario is it does not give up large amounts of walleye, but quality walleye, which I release unless hooked to hard then it's in the box, I like 20-26" for filleting. More rods in the water at the right speed and in the temp where it meets the bottom and you will be in good hands.
  10. I run the exact same set up as chas, but with 4 less rods in the spread and 2 off the riggers and now that Les has enlightened me with cheaters I will run a cheater on each rigger poles. If the browns are running the north shore of the Black River Bay my setup is like chas but if nothing is happening shallow my mind is set to run the 30ft belly of the bay down to pillar Point .
  11. That's a nice rack, send him down to the Pocono's I wouldn't hesitate one bit to let my 35Whelen take over on that one. Very nice, your deer in general have bigger bodies from what I see in the photo's
  12. That is a awesome story, glad to hear that he wanted to go instead of watching tv!! I've got twin girls age 8 and they both are interested in the outdoors 1 is into hunting, camo guns with me right by her side, she likes to shoot my 17hmr, and the other loves to fish so maybe one day I'll be a busy man, but for now they love to fish the bigO . Come on spring, I can't wait to get them into the browns, I might have to change my address to Dexter I hope!! but congrats to your kill and JR being so interested in the whole game
  13. I would of played the lottery that night LOL.
  14. Good deal, were you around the islands, did you fish for other species? just wondered if you tried for smallies or walleye. thanks pap.
  15. I will agree with anybody go fishing when ever you get a chance, don't stay off the water cause the moon aint right is ludicrous, but when traveling 18hrs north I'm going to use every aspect I can to make that trip as good as possible, and when you have a chance to use the moon phases in your favor do it, it will prevail for you. If you live within what's a comfortable drive for you, go every chance you get. For instance when I get a chance to fish Lake O where we have our camp and that's 4.5hr ride the only thing I check is my watch for what time it was when I left and the gas tank, other than that it's wfo for Dexter NY.
  16. With what JT has said is spot on if speed is kept at 2.5 and of coarse that is at the lure, not your boat speed, depending on the currants down at the lure your boat speed may be more or less than you actual lure speed. Personally I think having a speed monitoring device is more important than having a top of the line fish finder, don't get me wrong the both are very important items. I had to choose between a top end fish finder or a down speed device and I chose the down speed device and I personally am happy with the fish finder I have, but the down speed ability has put more fish in the boat than any other device I have.
  17. Yes this is true, and a lot of them before that, there was a post that one was fishing for muskies and catching walleye and they were at 3.8 mph, this thread is becoming more interesting as it goes. thanks for your input PAP
  18. Yea how bout it, after a good blow in the same direction for a day a man could fill his box with f18's , just walk the shore line and pick em' up like Easter Eggs lol.
  19. Thanks SK, that's definitely them I made a post about them a few months ago, but I'm to dumb to make a picture appear with the post, but when I saw them I figured other people could see what I was trying to describe and wham!! to replies in one day, I'm so glad I know now, are they still used ? what happens when all the clips are gone, junk? or can you still find them,
  20. Thanks for educating me, I had these things and had NO clue as to what they were I figured they had to some sort of releasing apparatus as the clip comes of with some difficulty. Thanks for you expertise!!!!
  21. Les, I'm still lmao ooh my god!! rn surf&turf said he's got the whiskers of a catfish, add a little coyote in there and He's definitely at the top of the food chain. Soon there will be sightings of the grass man around Otisco LOL.
  22. Xxx

    Otisco 10/19

A walleye 25" at just say 71/4 pounds is a stout fish, a 29-30"er pushing 13# or better, great fishing, loose one lure gain another not bad, someone was watching over you.!!
  23. Do you need the LOU App to load pic to here?
  24. Perseverance will prevail, way to go guys!! I bet that walleye on a noodle rod was fun, thanks for the post and pics.
  25. Please go to the auction post and click on "to see some pictures" and on the far right below the line count down 19 pictures, it will be a tackle box with J plugs, in front of the J plugs are white round things with orange shrink wrap like material with a wire clip on it WHAT are those things. I got a tackle box given to me with the same stuff in it but I never saw these white circles with these clips, and there must be 50 of them in the box I got but have no clue as to what they are. Thanks for any help PAP PS. it must be old school because the box I got given to me looks exactly like that mess. So I know some of you guys been around the block more than me, and I'm dying to know !!!!!
