  1. Fishing with your kids builds a special bond between you and your children. That the best therapy there is for parent/children!! My daughters are still talking about our trip this summer. So nice to see a young man interested in the outdoors!! Enjoy every moment as they grow up fast. Thanks for sharing and get out as often as possible, like mentioned above!! Good job Dad!!

  2. The main engine components such as gaskets and stuff I used Felpro marine kits and bearings I use Clevite bearings for the rods and crank. Use the best machinist you know to have the heads, block, crank and rods done. Have him install the cam bearings. I ordered the exact same goodies as far as oil pump water pump timing chain & gears also important to match the camshaft so lift and duration is the same. Good luck.

  3. Not till just before and after the ice forms. Stick with the above thoughts and you'll be good to go. Fall you can turn up the wick a little, 2.0 2.3 at the ball should be a good speed. If nothing and fish Didn't react to your presentation. Back'er down to 1.5--1.9. Let the fish tell ya what they want. This can be accomplished also with long sweeping turns to the left or right and take notice which lines are getting bit. Outside lines on your turns are the faster speeds and naturally the inside lines would de the slower lines!! Hope this helps ya out a little anyway!!!

  4. My Father in law has/had pulling tractors, they have no charging systems. So after a few pulls the ignition system and the fans to cool the motors drain the batteries to a point the won't start especially if they are hot. So he bought a small generator. This one is very light and puts out like 600-750 surge and there quiet. These units are 2 stroke motors. It worked really nice.

  5. I just read that the time has come to either elect or appoint a new person who will be under Trumps thumb to be in with the Canadian Gov't about the newer water heights. It sounded like this new water height ordeal will be one of the top priorities. I'm not that well versed in the political end of things, but it sounded like the homeowners didn't want this lady appointed because the water level ordeal is what she is in favor for. It was a world news event. I can't say anymore as this is what my pea brain picked up on.

XX2 Awesome guys to deal with turn around time is great also. The lures in the pics are just a few they've done for me. Not the best pics, that's what I had on my phone.20180819_114813.thumb.jpg.fe5999fb0136252000068abc1d132cfa.jpg

  7. Definitely go with what we call a meat rig, whether it's a worm harness or a minnow harness they want to eat this time of the year. I troll spoons but always run a scent on a spoon a super slim, or a spoon size up to a size NK28 stay on the bigger size. Scatter rap has come out with a bigger bill for deeper approaches along with their erratic left and right action, my go to lure for eye is the Berkley Flicker Minnow in sizes 7-9. I fish the northeastern part of the lake so that's what works rather well for up here, I might add we use the inline yellow OffShore boards. 1.8-2.3mph at the ball. Some days slower but not often faster. Usually start out at 1.5 mph and do long easy right to left turns and hopefully pick one up on the faster side then bump the speed up to 1.8 and continue the long sweeping turns. The turns are programmed into my kickers auto steer, which is a sweet thing. Good luck guys for me this is the best time of the year for me.

  8. I would look into Adventure Marine swimplatform brackets. They give you all the dimensions. You get what I'm saying. I personally would not hang my kicker on two pieces of steel and a 2x8 in between them. Your relying on the screws holding the 2x8 to the bracket.

  9. I run a 15hp Merc. If it won't hold course with the python auto steer which has the fastest full left to right swing which I can boost throttle to correct then I'm pulling rods and headed to a more fishable situation or calling it a day. After the last 2 year's of people passing due to inclement weather there is no fish worth someone's life or mine. This is JMO. As you get older different things seem to be more important in life as when I was younger.

You might want to confirm that, I think you need the HDS models to control the autopilot Lowrance makes. I think the elite can only read data via NEMA 2000 wiring. Maybe someone can confirm if they have been able to figure it out.

👍👍👍I have the elite 7ti and I believe it will operate a bow mount trolling motor guide Xi5 or something but not the tr1 Gold or even the lowrance auto pilot. I went with the python auto steer with the Itroll has throttle controll and all kinds of auto turns with speed up and slowbown. To numerous to mention. I love it!!

Holy moly 5-7 footer been there done that, sweated and prayed every inch of the way. Had my dad who was battling cancer and my uncle. Went from nice rollers to wind blowing fiercely and till we got all lines in 3-5 and building. Had to trim up to keep the waves from coming over the bow. Weather report was 1-3 and diminishing to 1ft or less. You just never know every time you leave the dock what might happen. Sounds to me the men had their life jackets on.
