  1. Oh he said Perch? I thought he was looking for peaches……. Well that changes the whole game now…. all joking aside, still warm water for them although if you can find deeper ones you might have more active fish. Stay on the drops. If your on a school now keep changing baits , minnows, cranks everything. I’m sure you know this anchors and motors kill the bite.
  2. There up and down the shoreline but it’s on the downward side, a lot still on the east side but many have been picked on the west side 😂
  3. The weight your looking for is made by a guy that goes by Bikinibottom on here. You can search his name and should be able to come up with contact info.
  4. Crawfish can find their way into a pond in a variety of ways. During the wet season when water levels are high, crawfish can migrate from other nearby ponds or streams. They can also be introduced through the intentional stocking of crawfish or through the accidental introduction of crawfish larvae by birds. For what it’s worth on your pond. Sk8man was mentioning the no path as it relates to a waterway for them to swim or migrate. An eagle could always carry one over, although highly unlikely.
  5. All good on the beer, hell there’s people on here I owe bottles of 10yr old whiskey…. fyi to your comment on the valve thing. I do remember at one time reading a post on I think Hull Truth about compression and a valve needed to be adjusted on the exhaust side ( I think). They have had some issues apparently with that. Good luck
  6. Agree with the Trident Marina suggestion from Sk8man. Not sure if you did a compression check on the cylinders or changed plugs. Just rounding out the trouble shooting.
  7. What a beast! He’ll never forget that trip! Great going!
  8. I was sure hoping for a piece of cable when they replaced it as a souvenir Les. I can’t imagine how many rigs are tied up on them. I remember as a kid going out and marking the bottom and seeing if the myth was true of fish the size of cars being down there lol
  9. Depth at the navy barge is around 520-540ft I believe. Give or take. Cables I had heard were recently being replaced or already had been.
  10. Tough stuff right there. 37k for just you plus the other two that didn’t collect? Total 200k purse for 4? Or 37k split between the 4 of you? 9k a piece? if it’s 37k for just you I’d probably would be seeking legal help if you felt that your verbal agreement was sufficient between the 4 of you. If it’s 9k for the split and you can get the other 2 guys to go in with the you on the legal fees it might make sense again to seek help. If you are on your own and your 9k winnings is what we’re talking you might have that in legal fees so it would be a wash and would probably not touch it. You can always spend a couple of hundred for a review of your case to get a good idea of what the next step should be. The Key here is the verbal agreement. You can win in court on verbals, although tougher than having written obviously but it can be done. It’s up to a judge and sometimes a jury to decide who’s the thief. Things like past precedents in tournaments with this same guy? Actual spilt payouts that you can recall help as well. Yep. Not a guy to have in the boat. Sorry to hear. I’m sure it sucks. Keep us posted if you pursue. Would love to hear you got your money……
  11. Awesome report! Looked like you had a great trip. Nice boat!
  12. I agree, they tasted better when we had smelt in the lakes. Like you I’m a perch / walleye guy.
  13. Yea, if he only had cable steer I’d have to agree a bow mount electric would be more practical and if he’s a bass fisherman he’d want it on the boat anyways.
  14. Brian, not sure if he has hydraulic steering, or a dash console, if he does, Raymarine Ev-100 would be my suggestion. Doesn’t need any electronics to support running it. Love mine. Think I’m on my 8th year and has worked flawlessly for me.
  15. There’s been past posts on this topic, I too have unhooked them and have gotten them in the water only to see them belly up. Since doing the bogo grip on a rope trick I haven’t looked back. If you haven’t tried it, do the fish a favor and give it a try.
  16. I’d say you have a setup that I wouldn’t change……….
  17. If you have a FFinder that shows your weights on the screen , there is no need for a depth counter . The screen doesn't lie , and it's more accurate than your counter with or without blowback. Actually, the FF do lie. The angle that a transducer reads in feet is the same amount of cable that is out on the downrigger. What the FF can’t pick up is the actual depth of the ball due to blow back. It can only display what you think is the depth of the ball but is not accurate. You can perform this test by getting a fish hawk 4xd or a sub troll. So for example, FF shows my ball at 100ft, counter on DW says 100 ft. Fish hawk says I’m really at 90 ft. For what it’s worth.
  18. I’m not sure why your not getting advice from the captains your mating for? Sounds like you already are in? Not looking for advice or opinions on whether you should or not correct? I guess my two cents, I’m not a captain, but for what it’s worth seek out people you know that are in the business. They can really give you the ground work on what they did to get them there. You’ll have to decide if it’s a 1) just like seeing smiles on faces and breaking even ( must have another source of income or finances ) because you’ll go broke one day or 2) looking to be profitable. If it’s the latter, treat it as no different than starting in like a business. Keep in mind hr for hr there’s a handful of captains that can make a living on it with out having the other source of income. Boy my heart goes out to these captains that literally break there back day in day out. Not saying you can’t but you probably already heard this tune. Good luck to your endeavors what ever you end up doing. I wouldn’t be upset about not hearing from any. Busy season as you know. This would be a great winter topic for them. There are many that will respond sooner or later.
  19. The days I remember with my brother and I running two lines with a wooden electrical reel pulling in fish and laying it on the floor. When we had two fish in the boat the look on our faces……..
  20. For what it’s worth, was running big game 30lb and fleas were building a lot this past week. Put the Blood Run See Flea 30lb on and was impressed!
  21. Damn Bill, you’ve got those Browns dialed in…..
