  1. Nice, but next time that happens you might want to circle the fish with the boat, and start chasing it to gain line, instead of tightening the drag so hard that it pulls out.  You will be amazed at how much line you can gain back in a hurry doing this.  This trick helped me out a few times last summer on bigger fish, when I was by myself.  I hope this helps. :)

  2. I have been experimenting with different blades and things behind them, and have had my best luck on the Luhr Jensen Bolo blades in size #3 with the chrome(or nickel) and prism finish, with an atomik glow mirage fly behind it about 20".  They seem to love that look when they won't fire on anything else.  I did not have much luck on the oversized blades or with any gold blades. Fished from 1.5-2.4 mph as close to the bottom as you can get them.  I usually go about 5' from bottom.  Hope this helps.

  3. No flasher, just the spinners, and you can try a variety of lures behind them from 12"-24" behind the cowbells.  I have been using salmon flies behind mine, but kwikfish, spin-n-glows, and spoons are also popular.  Silver base color seems to work better than gold on Lake Ontario for me as well.  Hope this helps.
