  1. Thanks tinfin. Left the dock yesterday around 6am ran out to 100fow and set up. Had a good screen all morning but couldn't quite figure them out. Fished til about 10:30. Managed six bites and boxed four fish. One really nice coho, 15lb King and two about 4-6lbs. Once the overcast passed and the sun started shining it slowed right down for us. All in all not a bad day though. Calm seas and a slight breeze. Mostly a spoon bite for us but flasher flies did take a couple shots. Hopefully back at it next week.

  2. Have had very limited time this season to fish. My buddy has a slip at hughes and we are trying to get out Monday. The couple times we have got out this year we have gone out to 70-130 fow and haven't marked any lake trout. Have been slightly east and also a little to the west. Does anyone know where the lake trout action has been recently. Going to try in the morning for silvers but it would be nice to have a slight idea where we can target them. Thanks in advance.

  3. I heard from a charter captain last year that the circular yellow markings on king salmon meant that it was a Canadian stocked fish... Caught a decent one this weekend and everyone seemed to say that it was something different.. Can someone explain to me if this is accurate or not.

  4. I was looking to get some feedback from some people about the fishery we have. I have fished out of oak orchard for a good part of the year and its safe to say that there are a lot of fish being taken from here annually. I know the state of New York puts a lot of effort into stocking and such. I was just curious if some of you people know from first hand experience if any of the charter boats and recreational fisherman give back to the fishery in any way? I know that these guys make a living doing this but also wonder which ones will throw back a steelhead under the limit or any other fish. I know if it was me I would want to give something back like the 15 inch fish I catch for hope for a better fishery down the road. I think it's safe to say that some of these guys are just trying to send the customers home with as much meat as possible. I don't need specifics, names or anything like that I was just trying to get a better idea how many people want to see the fishery thrive and not just keep taking away from it. Thanks in advance guys.

  5. And yes the other day I lost all electronics while out on the lake fishing. Hasn't happened since but at the moment my sonar will just cut off.

  6. My batteries are not new and I do not keep them charged up all the time. But I do have a battery tender that I hook up once and a while. My power for the sonar is also ran under the dash to the fuse box with all of the other wires. I went to the boat and played around today. What I did find was when at a low rpm and I'm running my lights, GPS, VHF, sub troll, wash down and riggers. What I'm trying to say is with all of those things on and running, I hit my wash down pump and my voltage on the dad severely drops down.

  7. Yes I think it makes sense thank you. I have two marine/ rv batteries on the boat with a selector switch, positions one, two and all. It looks as if all of my wire run up to the front of the biathlete and then under the dash and stearing wheel. The only things that are run directly to the batteries are my riggers and bilge pump. Also I tested both batteries and the read 12.66.

  8. I have been having some issues with my electronics on my boat. I just recently put a new battery selector switch in. I was out the other day and had the switch on number two, fished for twenty minutes and I lost all power to my electronics. I looked it over tightened a few things and hoped for the best. Went out the next day with the switch on the both position and everything was fine except for the fish finder would cut off when my rpms were low. It would power off then I would manually have to power it back on again. Does anyone have any idea what the problem may be?

  9. I was in the same position last year. Found a website with a list if Lake Ontario captains, sent out about fifty emails and got many responses. Most of them being friendly replies just saying how they were set for the year. But all it takes is that one person who may just need someone to fill in. I started part time last year and am now full time this year, running every trip with the captain. Never know if you don't try. Send emails a make phone calls, persistence pays off. Now hopefully you won't steal my job ;)
