  1. Cody, for the record I wasnt trying to keep you away with the post and poor catch rates. It's tough,  guys who really fish it hard are getting 1 or 2 fish, if any.

    A SEASON.........

    The good news.

All the bashing the reservations get.

They got a good thing going on.

They have their own hatchery and are really helping the walleye fishing out there.

They are my next plan of attack.

See if they will bite into a muskie program. When I discussed it with them they said they were new and just getting their feet on the ground with the walleye.

If they would stock muskie maybe one would swim to PA they could claim victory on.

Cody......I sure wish we had something great for you. ...and us!

  2. If they ever do get their crap together they will probably focus on some little crappy lake with a HP restrictions, or the river which would require a jetboat in most places instead of a big lake that anyone could bring their normal fishing boat they use at their home waters.

I figure I'll be dead and gone by time trophy waters ever happen in PA .

Zach you mentioned it was nice to see me on the website.

I've always been, I just read and not post cause........

It just gets my blood boiling when I start thinking about this kind of BS....

I'm done bashing PA, they dont get it and after all the time 3 rivers have invested in them,  they still don't get it.

    Lol......

    Come on NY season!!!!!

  3. All the oil lease, logging roads, gas roads, and national forest roads this place could be a mecca for snowmobiling and 4-wheeling.

Like WV........tons of guys from here go there to ride.

They are welcomed there , not chased and harassed.

But.....we have the same snowmobile trail loop that we had when I was 10 years old.....35 years we couldn't add to or make more.

Your riding a 4 wheeler you better be watching your back,  unless your on a lease which is starting to pop up around here because of it.

Won't be long and our area will look like the southern part of the state.

A no trespassing sign on every tree.

    They miss the big picture.

    On all of it......

Fines and DUI is how they want to make their money.

    Not tourism and registrations.

  4. At the muskie max I was talking to fish commish and they said they'd like to make kinzua a trophy pike lake.

I said what a F-ing joke that is.

They are naturally there,  they reproduce on their own. Just what they need, self regulating program they have nothing to do with.....I said what is your part in that?

Maybe raise the size limit. .....

That was about the time our 45 mintue chat was over. Think I crossed the line, I was being nice up until that point.

I'll take my travel, food, lodging, launch, lic fees, somewhere else.

I truly don't think they get it.

The guys who fish bass fish bass, walleye guys fish walleye,  etc etc etc.

A muskie guy is going to go where the fish are.

Until PA has a lake that has a poplutaion where a guy could go and plan on having action that's not going to happen.

Any day at chautauqua you see PA, NY, OH, sometimes WV plates in the parking lot.

    Have fish. ...people will come.

In McKean and Warren County we don't have much.

A little tourism our way could help the the area out.

Our deer population is terrible, most camps are for sale.  But that's another whole division of BS that could stir up hours of debates.

  5. Some years I get determined and fish it hard.

Some years I get pissed and only go 10 or so times.

    Results are the same.

    Its a 12,000 lake.

I help with the stocking,  years ago we got 6000 fish,  one year none.

Then bumped us to 9000, 9500, 9500, and this year none!

They just aren't getting any results from the stocking and I heard through the grapevine that they are done with it.

    Not 100% sure on that.

I still have hopes that I can stay in PA and have a shot at fishing close to home but we have nothing to offer really!

    It's a shame!

  6. I see a rule change about handling a rod or not pooling fish?

In my boat I start out with first fish is whoever side its on then take turns from there.

I know others only do sides.

Any muskie fisherman has had a day where only 1 lure catches all the fish.

In that case out of my boat we each catch equal amounts of fish off the same rod/lure. Some one else that only does sides catches 5 and partner gets 0.

How are you going to patrol this?

Is he pooling fish or has the hot lure for the day?

Which method of fishing with a buddy is right or wrong.

Like a buddy said it best.....I am suppose to net your 50" fish for you? Oops! Sorry it got off, well at least we still have my 46" on the books.

Maybe consider just having it be a team event in July?

If you have other boats patrolling? In my case my partners turn is next and fish is on my side and someone sees him grab a rod on my side? Reported? Kicked out? Mad at the world?

What are your thoughts on this?

The two methods of fishing while trolling?

  7. I doubt the DEC visits forums and reads through all of our BS back and forth to get their info. They can see who buys a fishing lic. Where they live and send them a question answer form we'd all be happy to fill out. I can't imagine they rely on a guy running around the boat launch and campgrounds asking who got what on what so he can post it for the DEC to read.

If so........he missed me all weekend.

    Did I catch 2 or 10???

    Okay.

I am done with this, we all are going to have strong points of view one way or another.

If this truly is all about the DEC and one guy reporting is going to make or break the fishery that is really sad. I would hope the technology of the computer lic system could spit out an email, phone#, whatever and me be contacted for some real info.

In case I launch at a different launch, fish a different lake, camp somewhere else, or day for that matter and the reporter is not around.

Thanks, Now I just remembered by I don't bother looking on forums much anymore

Just gets my blood pressure up for no reasons.

Good luck to everyone this year, remember your release tools, be careful during the warm water period, stay safe out there, let them go safely so they can keep on growing!

    I'm out.........

  8. Awesome, congrats! Not everyone would of read the release info, glad you did.

You and most everyone wants to release the fish, but, they are so much more of a delicate fish than the rest of the species that are caught. They cannot be handled in the same manner.

Buddy of mine said he saw a fresh dead one floating on saturday. With the lower water temps that should not be happening.

Was that fish mishandled? Maybe someone would just read enough to be dangerous is my point. The guy I saw trolling 2 rods, one was a light spinning rod, plastic rod holders, I would love to have a chance to talk with him at the launch.

Introduce myself, talk over the concern of over stressing the fish with light equipment, discuss proper release tools etc etc etc.

I was concerned with what I saw, show and teach him what I can.

I am always concerned with detailed reports and who is reading and going out trying what they read.

Without the money invested in the proper equipment, they could do some damage out there.

  9. Here is my point of view on detailed reports.

Years ago it was lure name, line amount out, lure color, where to buy them.

Anyone could go to Happy Hooker then and get that lure, swing over to Kmart and get a leader and just use my trusty old zebco 33. No net, no release tools, no knowledge. Hurting the fishery.

Us......Guys that post or not that come on here know what is best for the fish.

    But anyone can read this.

    Release equipment or not.

saturday I saw a guy trolling with a spinning rod and reel combo.

Do you think he had and bolt cutters on board? Probably not.

NMA doesn't open the release info to non members either, need to join.

So they got a name, want to meet you, discuss the fishery and how delicate it is.

Go over the Do's and Don'ts wit the new guys.

    Open forum that isn't possible.

    My two cents on it.

    Thanks.

  10. One thing that did surprise me.

I would say 80% of the boats I saw were guys I know from PA that are there normally during the regular season.

I did expect a lot of new boats and parking lots full. I think the forecast spooked a lot of people off. It was nothing like what they were calling for.

I did expect more boats, Sunday very few were out. Those that were.....got very very wet!

Think it will take all week for my boat to dry out.

  11. Also, I know over the last couple years of being involved with NMA members you have pissed several of them off sharing pics on here that they had shared with you not knowing they would be posted.

I can't believe they haven't brought it up to you. I would not be happy if you or any one would post something of mine without asking, it's just the right thing to do.

Expecially for such a delicate fishery the river truly is. Less pressure, the better.

I agree with Adam, not to raise a big stink over it but you should consider asking guys before you post. I'm sure there is others that feel the same way but don't want to say.

Thanks for bringing it up Adam, knowing I feel the same way I can quit avoiding you and not telling you the truth and feel better about it.

  12. I couldn't agree more!

Larry, for the last few years anytime we bump into each other at the launch and you ask, I lie......Tell you nothing or just one, nothing worth talking or posting about. If I wanted the entire Internet to know my results I would post them myself. Since you are always posting others you obviously see and know I don't.

You should at least ask first.
