Anyone ever fish this far north before? I dragged the boat five hours up to the Bruce penisula and wanna be able to hit the fish hard. I'll fish for anything but I'm looking for lakers and walleye. Thanks for any advice in advance.

If I'm 100 feet off shore there's no way I should have to worry about a sail boat coming in to ram me. There was 29.99 miles of open lake behind me lol.

I can tell ya that 200 to 250 was good for me down 80 to 100. That was out of Wilson, mainly a spoon bite for me.

I had marks from 150 FOW to 300 FOW. It was all good for me.

No temp probe, I was fishing the marks on my sonar.

Got out for a few hours this morning. Had all my action between 200 and 250 FOW. Ran spoons and meat, Dirty White Boy and Blue Dolphin were doing most of the work 80 and 90 feet down. Meat rig caught one skippy. Lost one decent fish the rest were in the 1 to 10 pound range. 

I almost got hit while my outboard was off and I was 100 feet off shore. Good thing I wasnt anchored and was able to start my boat up and reverse to safety. Guy just stared at me as he went by.

Killian ...marked most fish 50 - 80 ft down...riggers at 65 & 100...cheaters on both...don't have down temp but 275 was the best depth...fleas weren't bad but did get on wire divers...which we ran 200-225 on 2 1/2 setting

Atleast it wasnt more than 30 gallons I hope.

Ive tried just about everything except live bait for trout and salmon, They can be so spread out its not worth your time. Walleye are still hanging around the Niagara bar you can probably get those on worm harnesses or shiners but most guys troll stickbaits. The bar also has some awesome small mouth fishing if thats your thing.

Depends what your fishing for but id say pretty much everything.

Dirty white boy has caught like 50 percent of my fish this year lol.

from some research Ive done its seems that (depending which document Ive seen) theres at least 3 and maybe even as many as 8 different strains of lake trout being stocked into lake Ontario.

I wonder if theres any taste difference between the strains. That might be a reason some people claim to like the taste and others say its bad?

Is there a way to tell the difference in the strain of fish?

Browns are my favorite to eat also, great meat.

Olcott has a webcam that I use to view the lake. I think Oswego has one as well. Ill also check the olcott pier weather station run by NOAA. Gives wind, direction and temp.

I enjoy them after a soy sauce and brown sugar marinade.

I run a 16 foot deep v out on lake o, youll be fine just watch the wind.

Right now anywhere from 100 to 160. Could be deeper havent searched for them in a few weeks.

Ive bounced kwik fish around the Niagara Bar and in the river itself with some luck in the fall and spring.
