  1. Thanks- it was a surprise when it took off screaming- just 2 of us and we were each fighting a laker when it went off. Killian- that casting sounds like some fun with light line. What were you casting?

I was throwing size 7 rippin raps in the pearl color pattern and 5 inch rubber smelt patterned plastics with a 1 ounce jig head. I probably missed 2 fish for every one I got to the net. It was a nice change up from trolling.

  2. Need some info for lower Niagara. Gonna be my first time out. Anybody got good advice for a newbie? Thanks to all!

Depends on where you wanna fish. Most guys hit the green can or the coast guard drift for lakers. You can troll stick baits in 8 to 15 feet of water off the fort and catch anything with a mouth. When are you going?

  3. Put a camera on my 16 footer in 4 foot waves, add some dramatic music while I look as nervous as possible, I say that we might not make it back this time, and we have a show. The fact that I catch fish and can act like an idiot is just a bonus.

  4. Im out of Wilson in a 16 foot boat and if I dont like the way the lake looks I make the 15 minute drive to the Niagara river and based on the time of year I can catch anything. In June small mouth bass are plentiful and the odd lake trout is not out of the question on the Niagara bar. Also the drop off at Fort Niagara is a prime King Salmon location. The river is well protected from the wind and waves. If all else fails lake Erie is about 45 minutes away. As for a salmon bite, its less than 2 miles to the salmon grounds out of the piers. If you dont like Wilson then Olcott is six miles East. If you book a charter and still have more questions about how to set up a smaller boat for the big lake id be more than happy to help you out. Good luck and tight lines.

  5. Id say the market is still wide open. Washington state has almost 300 breweries and North Carolina has around 100. New york has just over 200. I dont know if that includes microbrewerys or not but there is definitely room. If you got a good product word will get around and youll be competing for those beer lovers.

  6. I just finished making my first ever beer. Some Irish Stout. Tastes great but need to pour it 16 inches from the glass to get any kind of head on it.

Awesome, how long did it carbonate for? Ive found that if I dont have a good enough head it just needs to sit another week. Also check the temp of where your storing it while it carbonates.
  7. I tried this recipe with a big king salmon fillet fresh from lake ontario in september and couldn't taste the marinade in the meat at all and it tasted pretty bad and it marinated for 12 hrs. I have heard others say they love this recipe too but they also used farm raised or alaskan salmon. What kind of salmon did you use?

I used a king from Ontario
