Lost one on the meat rig out 240 on a wire dipsy. Landed one out 145 on a dipsy spin doctor and fly.

When I first heard of wire dipsys I had no idea what that meant so I took my 300 copper and put a dipsy on the end lol. Somehow caught fish on it for a couple trips before I was corrected. Also dropped a net overboard. Set my rigger release so tight that I had to bring the rigger up to release it then fight the fish lol.

The new floating docks are beautiful. There is another set going in sometime in the fall I believe.

Yes it's up to 9 bucks now.

It's still a pain in the ass especially if you're alone. The ramp docks are still under water. I drive the boat over to the floating docks then move my truck if I'm alone. The water is a little lower than a month ago. If it was a weekend I would go to olcott.

Snuck out for a few hours after a quick morning job. Went 1 for 4. Was solo running 3 rods in 140 FOW. The same rod got hit 4 times it was a wire dipsy on a 1 setting back 180. Live wire SD and a matching green/silver fly. The salmon was around 8 pounds. Screen looked good though, lots of bait and tons of hooks. Lake seems back to almost normal after it flipped last week.

Sucks for fishing but man was that fog thick out of Wilson. Last year when the lake flipped I caught a nice brown off the piers. Adapt and overcome.

I would be a little worried about your termination with the spoon shown in picture. A good duolock snap will help with the spoons ability to be free to move back and forth. The size of the hole you are direct tied to would put the knot at risk for slipping. If you want to tie direct, try a loop-style knot. There was a test of knot strength on "knot wars" put on by the show North American Angler. They tested various loop knot designs for break strength. You should be able to look at archives of their show to get an idea for a good loop knot if that is what you are looking for.
I think the "King-Sling" knot won the contest if my memory serves.
Will a split ring up top achieve the same effect? Most of my spoons have them but this one was new out of the box without it.

I've never had an issue with line twist on spoons even without a swivel. Knot wars was a great show to learn some new things, I used to watch it all the time. Maybe I'll have to do an experiment with the same lures at the same depth one with a swivel and see if it improves my catch rate. Thanks for the tips guys I'll give them a try!

Worked my schedule out so I could fish today and it wasn't too bad. Got out to 200 FOW and set up hit a fish right away on the dipsy out 240 on a one setting but somehow it removed the entire treble hook from the spoon and left the split ring?? Put a new treble on and got a 23.5 pound king on the same spoon. Then hit one on a blue dolphin SD with a green/silver fly down 70. Gave it another hour then pulled back into port since I had a party to go to. Screen was full of bait but not to many hooks.

As far as I know all other launches in wilson are private. If you're alone I would go to Olcott to make it easy on yourself.

Only was out for two hours. Landed one laker and lost two other fish. Screen was pretty dead.
Also I timed my trip from the launch to the end of the 600 foot no wake zone and it was close to 15 minutes at idle speed so be prepared for a long slow ride lol.

Launched there yesterday. It's a pain in the butt to do alone but is doable. You gotta back down the middle of the launch, drive your boat to the floating docks then walk back to your truck and park. I had to back my truck almost all the way into the water to get the boat off and mines only a 16 footer!

Never heard of them. Look similar to spin doctors though.

This is a first. Looks like a full staircase floating about 400 feet off shore.

Today and this Sunday will be tuff with the lake level approaching that 248 level, if not there already today. I received 2 dump loads sand piles and 400 sand bags THEN picked up an additional ATV trailer full from National Guard & sand bag machine/Hamlin -which was relocated to the Town of Irondequoite today/friday
Sand bag fill and Stack party at my house this Sat 1 PM.... No Experience necessary...

If you need help filling bags I'm working in Rochester tomorrow morning and can stop by after to help out. Just need to know where to go and what to bring.

Wilson launches are completely submerged. Also got a look at my neighbors property and it's not good. They have no erosion protection. When we got the house in wilson, 5 years ago, only the white end on the pipe picture was visible, now there is 6 feet of pipe hanging out.
