I'm gonna look into those when I'm up there next time, exactly what I'm looking forWe've caught the incidental Salmon on these, but they're great for BT. They are either Riverside or Streamside rods that Fat Nancy has made specifically for Spring BT.

This is kinda something I'm looking towards, what're they called?
We run 2 piece 9' ML rods that Fat Nancy's in Pulaski had made specifically for BT. They are a blast!

I had a bunch of 7' light Ugly Stiks and would've loved them if they were two piece. One pieces aren't very convenient to deal with and looking for something a little longer and fast action.7' light or medium light Ugly Stiks are my favorite BT rods. The 8'-3" Ugly stiks are perfect too.

If you had to choose one rod for spring BTs, what would you choose? I'm looking for a fast action, two piece, 8' rod or so. I've always just put leaders on my salmon rods but looking for something lighter so it's more enjoyable.

To make it simple, the current is going in different directions depending where you are. There's no safe way to tell you're down speed without a probe. Going one way you might not be able to go fast enough but the other way you might no be able to go slow enough. You can read the cables if you're seasoned to that like I grew up doing but the currents are bad and going all different directions. Hard to keep up with it.So basically what you’re saying is if my riggers are 80-100 down, my 10# fishweights should not be blowing back at a 45degree angle but more perpendicular? The angle of the cables then should give me a better idea of my down speed then. Correct?

You can check the surface speed all you want with a spoon but 100 feet down, you could be doing 1.5 difference compared to the top with all the current going on. Temp hasn't mattered for me much but speed changes every direction. No my weights were not registering on the finder even when I am down to 2.4. I was feeling like we were always going faster than the gps speed on the screen. I think I will bump up the sensitivity on the finder and like you said, run a spoon boatside to see how it’s running. I have buckets on board I use for walleye trolling and maybe should be using them all the time.
