  1. went out after the storms blew through today .fished from 9 to 2.went 1 for two.10 lb king on a mountain dew paddle and green fly down 80 over 150.dipsey out 280 on a 1.5 setting took a shot, but came off quick.that was on a sea sick waddler paddle and a dark green fly.fished 100 to 180 fow.there was more bait around 150,but not much.fished saturday between big salmon and south dune.marked alot of bait between 80 and 130 fow.didnt move a rod,but only fished an hour or so cause someone got sick.
  2. they need to be spending their money on a break wall instead of wasting it on dredging it.thats just a waist of money.dredge it one day and have a big blow the next day and there goes alot of money down the drain.i docked in sandy pond last year and now drive an extra 20 miles to my boat.i know you cant just go build a break wall, but until they do,nothing is gona change.
  3. you would be on a team but actually get put on another boat during the tournament to "observe" to keep people honest.amount of rods in water, landing of fish, size of fish and a few other things.if you are new to fishing the lake or want to learn, like me,i highly recommend being an observer.i observed a couple of tournaments last year and learned a great deal and met some awesome fisherman.
  4. not sure where williamson is,but im in mexico and have 2 spare dipsey set ups you can borrow till you get new ones.send me a pm if interested.
  5. nice fish!!!!the first one is the best one.thats a good job getting one on your first trip out
  6. good times out of port ontario/salmon river or second that on irish knots out of mexico.
  7. Went out at 9 today, took 3 kings and laker,2 kings went 20 lbs, other was a skippy, off the little salmon,130-150 fow down 100 and 110 on riggers.2 face uv and a green dot paddles.would have stayed but it kicked up and I was alone making it tough to control boat.try it again tom.
  8. Worked from little salmon to south dune,110 to 150 fow.2 skip pies and a brown.rigger down 100 chicken bone?gold with orange, other two on NBk free slider.had f.f on dipsies, had one hit,but missed him while we were landing other fish.still lots of bait around.current was about impossible to deal with.
  9. been out the last two weekends and not much happening.the only hope in the near future is it looks like a west wind for a few days at the end of this week and into the weekend may set things up,we will see.
  10. if i were you id wait a few more weeks till the lake sets up.gona be hard to find them, things have been hit or miss on the east end,but my thought has always been if you dont go you have a 100% chance of catching nothing!!!!!
  11. fished yesterday from noon till 5,90 fow to 200 fow between little salmon and the plant.1 steely on 60 ft rigger with a slider.carmel dolphin.fished mostly spoons with one f/f out.2 riggers with sliders,2 dipseys,1 copper and 1 5 color.marked alot of bait between 100 and 130 fow,but no hooks.surface temp. was around 60 all the way out to about 180 then dropped a few degrees.every 10 ft down the temp. dropped a few deg.needed to be down around 80 ft to get water in the mid 40's.did hear some guys on the vhf picking up lakers and steelies out in 300 fow where the surface temp. was 50 deg.
  12. pretty simple here, make loop in wire, pass loop through eye, pull swivel through loop and cinch tight then do one or two overhand knots and cinch tight.not sure what others do,but this has never failed for me.
  13. just going through an overtons catalog, hand held 100 bucks.base radio,8' antenna, and ratchet mount 150 bucks and free shipping.worth every penny of that extra 50 bucks.the only thing you will need to do is be able to soldier in the pl-259 connector that screws onto the back of radio,if you are not capable,im sure you can find someone to help you out or you can get a screw on one from radio shack,i like to soldier them on,but screw on one will work.
  14. exactly what was said above, can you put a price on your life and your passengers?dont waste your money on a hand held, get a fixed mount and good antenna,8 foot would be best.think there are a couple in the classifieds on this site.
  15. i ran the same setup last year, with copper down the chute.it produced quite well.problem with it down the chute is you should bring it in when you get a fish on one of the other rods or you are asking for a mess,so,it can be a pain, especially if you only fish with two people on the boat.im going to run it off otter boats this year.300 is a good starting point.like what was said above i am going to add a 400 and 500 this year.as far as buying one, atomic sells them as a package deal,as does hills valley, which is a sponsor on this site.if you fish around pulaski, the local tackle shops also sell them all set up.oh,and by the way, after pulling in a few on copper, now when it fires,i usually find myself in the cabin or piloting the boat and let someone else grab it!!!!!!you will see why.haha
  16. mine is mounted next to two transducers,200 mhz and a 50/200 mhz,no problems with interference here.
  17. i use them between copper and braid, not sure what size,i know they are rated for 50 lbs, just make sure they are small enough to go through your level wind.i had a cabellas depth master i set up for browns and it wouldnt fit through.
  18. GREEN DOT BIKINI!!!!!!! get both spinny and e-chip.i run spinny on dipsey or copper and e=chip on rigger.hot set up last year
  19. sounds electrical if shuts off that quick,i would put a spark checker on it,ones you can run the motor while connected and see if you are loosing spark.if you dont have a spark checker, get a can of starting fluid, shoot it in the carb when goes to die,if it brings it back, then you know its not spark and probably fuel problem. try using a different fuel line, primer bulb and tank to see if you have a bad primer bulb or bad tank vent.if that stuff dont work, try to find a respectable yamie dealer.
  20. Try dragging the bottom with cowbells,f/f,and or spoons in deeper water for lakers.
  21. That early you would be better off further west,if you are going to fish east, you may be heading offshore pretty far to find fish and you will need a lot of cable on your riggers!!!!
