We hit the lake this morning with hopes of finding some silvers in the shallows. We were in 14 fow skirting the edges of the docks with the planer boards. The first rod of the morning ripped off the planer board, bent right over and took off running like I expected a brown to do. I grabbed it and handed it off to my 4 year old daughter only to find out it was much heavier than I thought it was. She battled it for a while with my help before handing it off. We got it to the back of the boat and it was a big laker. It weighed in at 9.5# hitting on a j-7 fire tiger. We went 5 for 6 all lakers from 8:30-11:30. We had a couple crushing hits. Shallow water lakers are a lot more fun than ones from the deep. Ended up having a decent day for fishing with a three year old and only running two riggers because I forgot the boxes with my dispeys in them. Got set up around 8:30 and fished till 11:30. Went 4-4 on lakers with all fish coming between Wells College and Long Point. Ran right on the bottom around 80-120 fow. Marked a lot of suspended fish but couldn't get them to bite. My daughter wanted to take a couple home to cook the other two we released.

  3. Fished the last two weekends out of Sodus and had non stop action. Took my dad up this morning, and had to work really hard for the two fish we got. Set up around the trailer park and worked west. Water was 40-44 degrees running from 8-20 feet. Both fish came on green spoons on riggers. We launched at the Coast Guard Station but the dock was under water and needed my muck boots. It looked like they were going to close it down this afternoon. Took one home to cook tonight for dinner. 4. Went to the flea market in Watkins then launched the boat around 10. Got set up and fished for about 5 minutes before the wind picked up and blew us off the lake. Boat ran great, still got some kinks to work out with the two extra riggers I got over winter. We marked a lot of bait with fish all around it in the short time we were out. Did manage to boat one "fish" after the deep rigger touched the bottom. IMG_1490546727.342398.jpgIMG_1490546752.027978.jpg

  5. We had the same thing on Sunday found it to be pretty productive for us to fish just below it. We ran dipsys down there and got some decent lakers. We were hoping for something besides a laker but that didn't happen.

  6. Fished Sunday on the north end. Started out by Bellhurst had a large laker hit the dipsy down about 40' over 60 fow. Lost it right at the back of the boat. Trolled around there for another hour couldn't move a rod so we headed over to high banks. Just as we got to the east side and turned south a rigger popped 120' on the bottom. Trolled back and forth on the east side for two hours picking up fish the whole time. We went 5/6 for the day. Stayed in the 120-125 range and found what I believe to be a thermocline around 40-45 so we set diosys in there and they were just as productive as the riggers. Got to try out my new dipsy reels I got for Father's Day, Penn 209LC's. They worked great! Oh and no fleas yet.

After the fishing I met my wife and 8 month old daughter at the dock for her first boat ride. It went very well and I hope to have her out fishing in a couple years.

  7. That's a great catch. I'm not trying to be a jerk but I just thought you should know that you might want to take that picture down. There is a new law that if you are caught taking a picture of a fish that is out of season there is a $250 fine. Awesome fish though.

  8. Fished the north end yesterday from 7-11, Grady White with blue top. Only managed one average laker. Rigger on bottom 155'. Hopefully the warm days this week get things woken up. We tried shallow, we tried nothing seemed to work. We also saw a lot of bait worked that and still pulled nothing.

  9. Fished the north end today managed to get 4 lakers. Tried shallow early in front of Kashong nothing happening. Went out deep and trolled back north. Boated a couple nice fish the biggest being 9#. Surface temp was 36* everywhere even in front of the creeks. All fish came from 120-135 down over about 130-150. I sat back and let my buddy do all the catching. It was just nice to be out on the water. Kept two to eat and released the others.
