  1. Yes they do grow very fast. Enjoy every moment! Before I knew it he was getting on the bus for pre school. My personal hunting and fishing has been cut down but I wll make up for it when they tag along. Makes my outing that much more appreciated, pre- kids I took for granted being chasing my passions every day.My 4 yr old knows most animal tacks and can spot fresh tracks out the car window at 55. The  first time I took him bow huntig he grunted a 6 pt rite to the tree. When we got back to the truck he said thanks for taking me hunting dad, when are we goin again. He is currently learing how to shoot his compound and the rewards I get from teaching him about the outdoors is priceless!  I am hoping it will pay off some day, my dad has a awesome hunting and fishing picture album and doest own a fishing rod or a tree stand .  I am planning on him taking care of me someday. lol    Also get him a lifetime license now because you may not have the funds in the future, glad I did for both my sons cause I am broke now.

  2. congrats, another future sportsman to keep our traditions alive! Next year I will be taking my son up for the walleye opener for the first time. Family rules are you gota be 5. And he will be playing hooky at school and spending Monday on the water with dad! Cant wait!!!!!

  3. Thanks harvdog, I fish chamount and nite troll out buffalo in may. I was hoping that their was some mid summer walleye still around but it seems like winter and spring are the times to fishem at the Niagara. Probily will  still make a summer trip or to to give it a try anyways. They gota be around somewhere! I also sent you a pm.

  4. Hello, I have heard that they catch walleyes off the Niagara bar, but in my two trips their I have yet to produce. I just moved to Orleans county and that is one of the closer walleye spots that I know of. I fished it in early june and then late june and I belive my timing was off since I was the only boat around, except  some off shore salmon fishing in belive. I have never talked to someone who has fished it so I don't know if I am wasting my time.( well not realy a waste of time, fish just a bonus)  I am courious when is the time of year to fish that area for walleyes and do people fish the edge of the bar or in shore structure? I have read it is more of a trophy fishery than a numbers one.  Is that true?   Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks

  5. I had to chime in on this. Good for you Dylan for you comment to trout guy. People like that ( experts that know all) is exactly why our younger generation is not getting in the sport.  Is all my woods and water. lol Shame on him and all others who posted in ur deer pic section. We should be role models and fello sportsmen to our youth.  I have gotten into huntin on my own an not everyone has a mentor to share and show them their knowledge. How do you learn if you don't ask questions?  Remember we were all younge once.  Congrats on ur first deer. From a fello sportsman!

  6. To bad phil left all of us in the dark. To my knowledge he doesn't do bow work anymore, cant get ahold of em. Once again its not how you start it how you finish.    He was definatly top notch. Who does every one on the westside of roc  use now?

  7. I have been stugiling with the fact that my diehard trophy hunting is taking a back seat now that I have 2 boys. But after taking my buddy that doesn't hunt, son out for the youth hunt I realized that it is time to pass it on. When he harvested his doe on sunday the response was priceless! It was a huge doe and he made a awesome shot on the deer. Friday we mounted the scope and sighted it in, and he surprised me with his shoting abilities. Yesterday his parents took him and bought him a bow. Another hunter for life. Remember strength in numbers fellas.  Realy do I need another buck mount, well kinda but I have realized that there is a lot more to hunting than just trying to harvest that trophy buck. For what, to say look at me? Which unfortunately is the society we live in now days.  I have brought my 4 yr old to hang stand trim lanes ect this year. Everytime I head afield he wants to go to. I carried him on my shoulders for half mile in that down pouring rain scouting new land yesterday( we already hiked a ton) and when we got home he said dady lets go scout some more. So that's where I stand struggling to get over the trophy mentality, but daddys still gona go balls deep for the rut! Brupp brupppp

  8. Congrats, they truly are a blessing, my oldest started pre k today, it goes by fast make sure to take it all in! Gona be nice when my boys are a lil older , sorry wifey kids wana go fishing and then they wana hunt 2maro. Yea they definatly cut my time on the water in half but wil make up for it when they can go more. But did help out my deer huntin  kept more scent out the woods, I use to be out there every day. I was over huntin my spots, it doudled my encounters with mature deer. Good Luck

  9. Depends on where you fish, up there many fish landed are over 10 lbs, on onieda well the bar gets lowered. On the east end of lake Ontario I have caught them up to 12.5 lbs but mounted a 11 lbr because it had a muc better story. For the spring opener we had several over 10 lbs in one day, I don't think the wife would approve of one of those stringer mounts.cha ching Well she thinks a deer mount is only 125.00 hahaha Trophy is in the eye of the beholder.
