    New Steelhead Open Lake Fishing Reg Update

    I take my 8 year old son fly fishing when I can, it is something he wanted to do and I support him. I typically make a few cast with my spinning rod as I watch my son learn to fly fish.... we have meet some great people along our journeys as well as many with the personality as a rock... I took my nephew who is 13 and my son 2 weeks ago to sandy, west fork and there were guys literly standing in the water holding "there spot" just standing there with no rod in hand.. therefore blocking future generation s of fisherman to acess the spot.... REALLY.... was sad to see that happening... lucky I dont have wadders like my son does or I de been in there bumping shoulders with the guy... very sad as I read this post as well as eye witnessed what happens in the field.... scary what the future holds in OUR sport, also very few kids out there from what I have seen
    ... we have yet to land a fish since the salmon run. But we have had fun trying, I tell my son how sucess is not derived from harvests... memories

    No luck Monday at the oak, fished from 12 til 2. Was a lil bumpy in our lil rig. Took the wife and kids and we had fun even with lack of bites. My fishing gear needs some attention, had a broken wire rod and no graph. It quit working, but almost bow season so all that can wait. After the other wire rod line snapped and lost everything we decided to take a boat ride instead[emoji16] I gota take the boys back out soon, they questioning my fish catching capabilities.... as well as myself

    What a great year it has been for walleyes! My son has been on fire this year, he has found his grove, hence the magnet. He goes by mercury Mike on the water tho[emoji1787][emoji1787]Hes got his biggest fish in Chamount and just got a 29 incher outa Erie on Sunday! It was rather nautical out there Sunday but he manned up to the challenge and was rewarded. He either reeled in or netted all the fish and we only brought the small net. Opps..     Hes in his 20s ( my guess) we were all untouchable then! We need to stay together as this is a dyeing breed. Youngsters now days would rather watch people live their lives thru technology instead of do it!! Just go to a boat launch and look at the age. Dont try walleye fishing bud , u ask anyone anything and all you get is...well in the water... yep that's where I caught it. Most salmon guys are more than generous
