  1. mcny, I have a Garmin 550c and love it. Im able to locate bottom at 20mph and pick up good fish signals between 12 & 15 mph. It all has to do with correct transducer placement. It took 2 or 3 times out and that many tweeks in positioning of transducer. Place transducer on starboard side of motor and at least 3 to 5 inches min. from edge of prop. I found getting transducer below bottom of boat made biggest difference, 3/8 - 1/2 inch below botom of boat. I mark beautiful arches with this unit.
  2. Kevin is right and also Wilson Bay is hot at times for those 10lbers. Its all about being at the right spot at the right time and to figure this out is all about getting out as much as possible and staying on a pattern.
  3. Yette66, your best bet from my previous years of ice fishing up that way has been Chaumont bay. Try just south of Herrick Shoal where it drops from around 10'-12' into 24' - 30'. also south of Johnson shoal towards point Salubrious in 18' to 24'. Had good luck with deadly dicks and jigging rapalas tipped with minnow head. action is slow and just before dark was my favorite time. Hope this helps.
  4. Miss Em, Im new to this site and really appreciate all the info everyone shares about fishing Otisco. Just wondering if you could give me the water temp on Otisco last night. Hopefully heading up there this weekend andwith good luck will give my first report. Thanks, bulletny
