  1. I've trolled a good bit for splake in the ADKs, but usually Limekiln up in Inlet. Michigan Stinger scorpions have always produced best for me. Usually in "natural" colors, gold silver copper and sometimes with some chartreuse patterns.

Lightweight dipsey or Chinook diver setups usually outfish riggers. Depending on time of year 25-30' down is usually the ticket as I see them suspended more than pinned to the bottom.

Colors can be fantastic on them. Great looking hybrid fish. Good luck.

  2. I couldn't agree more. It seems like every time I feel like I have something "figured out" I get humbled again by these great fisheries. The guys you've mentioned and others have a deep knowledge of the fishery and are always willing to help.

I've always chuckled to myself when guys refuse to reveal their "secret spots or techniques" to others. I get more enjoyment over helping others find success than I do connecting with a fish myself. It took me a long time to figure that one out.

It's a big lake out there, the learning will never end.

  3. Headed out yesterday afternoon with my father for a PM trip. Launched out of Emerson on the north end. Lots of pleasure boaters to work around. Dropped gear at 2pm and it was pretty quiet until 6pm with just 3 non-committal takes on the rigger parked between 45-60. Decided to make a "last pass" through a cove that had a nice picture earlier in the day and both our diver rods and the rigger went off simultaneously! We boated all three Lakers which made for a nice close to the evening. Had we been able to stay things were definitely turning on.

SD/FF took 2 of 3 with the other coming on a silver/chartreuse stinger spoon. Rigger at 45 over 60 fow. Huge thanks to Suttontroller94 & Lyk2Fish for helping Dad and I out!!!!

  4. Hey guys - I, too have some great memories on Owasco a few years back.  Fished it a few times last year but we seemed to be out of the groove.  Haven't been out this year as my son is battling some medical issues.  I may have an opportunity to get out with my father on Tuesday out of Emerson Park.  If anyone could point us in the right direction I'd really appreciate it. Sean

  5. Launched out of Mexico at 630. Ran a west troll from 8 - 25', gin clear water and nothing. Ran out to the plant and trolled just outside the buoy line in 40' and picked up 4 browns, each around 10#. All shots came on Chinook Diver/Spoon combos. Best colors were purple spoons with copper backs. 2.2 - 2.5mph. Also picked up a decent Laker on a rigger at 40'. IMG_20200407_184946_259.jpegIMG_20200407_122444464.jpeg
