  1. I'm from Ohio as well.  I was just up there Friday through yesterday.  I have 150# braid on my riggers (big mistake). 30# big game on the rigger rods (didn't matter).  Then 30# power pro on the diver rods and 40# copper on the board rods.  The 4 of us cleaned fleas constantly for 4 days.  If they were in the water more than 15 minutes you would spend at least 15 minutes cleaning them off each rod.  They even stuck to swivels on the copper rods and built up on the 20" 50# between the Spin Doctor and Meat.  I have never seen anything like it.  It's just a light brown nasty slim.

Be prepared to clean every rod every 15 minuets.  I don't think there is any other way to do it right now.  The best way to do it is have enough rods to put a new one down when you bring one up.  I had 4 extra diver rods with me and used them, but they built up on the braid pretty quickly.  As soon as you got one clean you pulled one and replaced it.  You can probably get 20 minuets or so on the 30# big game and half hour on the copper if you are not running a swivel.
We fished Wed,Thur, Sat & Sun, I could leave my 1/19 diver rod and coppers in for as long as I wanted no problem, my riggers with 30# big game I'd pull every 1/2 hr 45 min and clean them but wasn't a disaster by any means, we pulled more fish than any trip we've ever had in 10 years of fishing lake O. Many many 3 yo's and 9 matures in 4 days it was a lot of hard work but way worth it!

  2. I wrap white duct tape on my rod handles, then on the back In permanent marker write what line is on it and when I spooled it, then cover that with clear packing tape. Once I set the rod I use a grease pencil to write how many feet out that rod is on it, then you know as well as anyone else on the boat who may be resetting that rod. The grease pencil works great on the packing tape. IMG_20160904_083133298.jpg

  3. I came up the weekend before labor day from Ohio, fuel in truck and boat $275, 3 nights lodging $300, launching fish & boat cleaning$50, licenses derby tickets for me & wife $140. Tackle I had to have $150, tackle I lost $125, meals $250 = $1290 so then what did I do? I came back labor day weekend, so in a matter of 2 weeks there's a quick $2500 it goes fast.....you're welcome state of New York and town of newfane/olcott.
