  1. Don't forget Smith Optics. They have glass lenses as well as a huge selection of polycarb lenses. Lifetime warranty to boot. The Backdrop, Chief and Touchstone are all designed with marine in mind. I just ordered the Backdrop with polarchromic polarized lenses. Can't wait.

I'm ordering the same pair today. What tint did you go with? I'm leaning toward the Amber Polarchromic,

  2. I too am in the market. I've owned two pairs of polarized Oakley flac jackets and really did like them a lot. That being said I want a glass lens this time around. I think I'm going with the Smith Backdrop. I do have a question tho. The frame color I want to get doesn't have an option for a mirrored finish on it. Only the black frames are able to have the mirrored finish lens. How big of an impact will I see by not going with the mirror finish? No matter what the lens will be polarized copper. Just will be mirrored or regular.

  3. Fished from 12am-5am. Trolling sticks. Got 2 eyes. Water temp was 46. It has since warmed up a little. The eyes were 20,22 inches. Good start to the season.

  4. I just bought a 10amp charger for my deep cycle battery. Was wondering if I should have went with the 6amp charger instead. Will the 6 give me significantly more life to the battery by charging at a lower rate or am I splitting hairs? I went with the 10amp so I could charge it over night and not worry about it not being filling charged in the morning. The battery I will be using most on the charger is 100amp hours. Thanks!

  5. I got screwed this weekend with the weather. Friday and Saturday were both crap. I want to take a day off this week to go trolling. Was thinking tomorrow because it's going to be so warm but maybe I should wait till Wednesday and get that west wing working a bit. Decisions decisions

  6. Figured I'd give a little update. I've built a new deck on my boat to cover and keep my battery's secured, hard wired plugs and recepticals in for the two downriggers and the trolling motor, hard wired the fish finder into the the main motor battery and permanently installed my on board charger for the two trolling motor battery's. Things are coming together! Thanks for the advice guys. My little boat is going to fish BIG. Was hoping to get after Browns on Friday but the weather is looking worst and worst. She will fish big but she won't handle big waves lol. Tight lines!

  7. Worst winter for running dogs I can remember. Dogs look at you like you have three heads 100 yards from the start.

  8. I just purchased 3 connectors and plugs (seadog brand) 2 for the riggers and 1 for the trolling motor.

My next question is how would you guys go about wiring up the boat. I'm going to rewire the whole boat. Clean it up a bit. I've got 2 down riggers, a 24v trolling motor and a bigger fishfinder (8in color screen). Should I hook up a downrigger to each of my trolling motor battery's? I found last year my fish finder was draining my motor starter battery so I ended up hooking that up to one of the deep cycle trolling motor battery's but that ended up causing interference issues. I replaced the motor starting battery this winter. Should that keep my fish finder running all day now? I just don't really want to add a 4th battery to the boat for the riggers and the fish finder as that's a lot of weight for my 16 footer with a 40hp on it. Advise? Thanks for the help already guys. Really appreciated.
