  1. I can send you some pics, I installed the outdoor receptacles and wired in a outdoor three way plug from an outdoor extension cord on each downrigger. All 4 of mine are set up. Just plug them in or pull the plugs out and close the covers for each receptacle when done. Did all 4 down riggers for like 40.00. Note* Like Ed said, if you have Auto Stops, know your + /- otherwise you'll pop the electronics board.

Thank you! I would appreciate pictures a lot. I don't believe these are auto stop.

  2. I'd love to do it that way Les but I don't think that's in the cards financially.

I looked at some older threads and saw someone used a male and female connection for a trolling motor. I think I'd just have to leave the ground wire not connected to anything bc that connection is a 3 way.

  3. What kind of power cord am I going to need to get for these older cannon mini mags? I'm not sure if I can just hard wire this without a cord or not. I'd like to be able to remove them from my boat easily so hardwiring them may not be an option no matter what.

  4. Mine were shipped on 2/27. Anxiously awaiting delivery...Gotta be patient I guess.

Do have a question. On the "other" shark weights, it says not to attach your release to the shark itself but to attach it to the line above so it doesn't affect the tracking. Does the same apply to these? Assuming it does but wanted to ask others who have used these.

    Thanks and

So would blacks released be optimum for this application?

  5. The gears? Like the metal shaft with the small gear on the end of it? I've been looking at the schematics. I'm

worried about spending 150 then having to put a couple hundred into them. At that point I could have bought some mag 5s or something or just went with the invaders. Anyone know how much weight these manual invaders can handle?

  6. I've got a 16ft boat that I want to equip with downriggers this year. I've got an old set of invader manual downriggers laying around. I'm not sure how much weight these can handle. They look pretty solid. I've got a buddy who's selling 2 cannon electric mini mags for 150$. They look to be older. I want to be able to run 12lb torpedoes off my riggers as I want to do some trout fishing on Lake Ontario this summer as well as trolling for eyes on conesus. I know 12lb is the absolute maximum for the mini mags. I'm wondering what your guys opinions are on what I should do.

  7. Very we'll put. Your posts definitely lit a flame under my ass and got me going last year. I'm looking forward to taking everything I learned from talking to you and what I learned actually fishing last year and improve my catch rates big time. Thank you!

  8. One thing I really think the DEC does have to do is take a good hard look at there WMU's. I think some of them need to be reworked and made into new ones. Some WMU's encompass areas of high deer density and low deer densitys yet they are managed the same. Take for instance 8N for years now this unit has been high, high for doe tags and that's right on for areas of it like the honeoye area and down but a good portion if not all of the Candice and hemlock state lands are in there unit too. Those areas do not have nearly the deer populations as there is in honeoye and south of honeoye yet they are managed the same. I think we could find many more units that have this same problem. Whether it's making units smaller or just reworking where the borders are something has to be done.

  9. I am ALL about shooting big bucks but antler restrictions are absolutely NOT the awnser!!! All antler restrictions do is select superior genetics to get shot first. Year and a half 8pts will be targeted bc they meet the criteria when in fact those are the bucks that need to be passed! What needs to happen is we need a shorter gun season and honestly I would be ok with 1 buck tag (I know I'm in the minority on that one). Most importantly we need educated hunters!! We need hunters who are willing to learn to do there best at aging deer and have the ability to pass those 1.5 year and 2.5s even if it's a nice 8pt. I think 3.5 is a good goal for a seasoned hunter if not 4.5. Antler restrictions will not have the effect people think it will.
