  1. I fished last Wednesday with the same forcast any west wind is going to be rough. The forecast was for 1~3 and was more like 4~6 white caps took a pretty big pounding in my 21 footer. Go to he mouth of the river at 1st light and then as Sun comes out work your way deeper. Fish Wednesday were stacked from 30~10 ft over 40 foot of water. Don't be afraid to run a couple surface spoons fire tiger lots of flash to entice egresion. Strikes. Right on he surface. Just watch the waves. 2 foot or less can change to 4 footers quickly

  2. Fished today 0700 to about noon. Started in 50 foot of water out front of salmon river with excellent screen. Fished stacked up from 30 foot to the surface. Had to dipsy.trips.with no body home. Trolling north. Got boat spun around and couldn't find the fish. Just.gone. went deep looked in shallow no fish. Pointed boat towards deeper water Going north west to be greater with a hard.wind and growing seas. While moving deep planner board line got caught under a dipsy rod and throws the whole rig in the lake. A little discouraged and some choice words reel in the it side dipsy on the same side and low and behold my dipsy rig rod and reel are rapped up in the line. Get the whole mess in and decide that our luck is running out and head to the dock. Went 0 for 4 today. 2 false trips and 2 break offs on spoons and plugs. Probably last trip of the year in the boat. Wish it ended with a couple of fish. Good luck to everyone still out there. Be safe and tight lines

  4. I got it later than that fished passed the pack and never moved a rod and had a blank screen all day. Lake got pretty spotty around 11 and fished deep instill 3 pm or so and found fished stacked up right out front of the river in about 40 foot of water. Had 3 fish hit and get off 1 break a treble hook. After peeling 600 plus foot of line off. Landed the 1 fish. Good day. Only 3 other boats fishing in front of the river from 4~ 6 pm wen we decided to head for the launch. The landed king came on a fire tiger spoon on the surface about 150 behind the boat. Strange how everyone's days are different. Good luck.

  5. Fished mexico bay from stare park out to about 180' of water. Got on water late. Lines set at approx 0730. Right off bat in about 80 foot of water port dipsy took a shot and landed a beautiful brown around 8 lbs. Fished the rest of the day with no hits instill approx 4 pm when we moved in to approx 30 foot of water and picked up 1 nice king. Screen sucked all day untillwe moved in to shallow water. Only advice I can give is fish out of temp if your looking for kings. All fish came on green or fire tiger spoons. Good luck out there. Tight lines.

  6. Fished Cayuga Sunday from 0900 to 330. Fleas were not bad at all. A few here and there but nothing to fowl lines. Water was extremely.ruff for the first part of the day. Fished from AES north and then back towards Myers. 2 fish deep. 270 on dipsey over 240 ft of water on black and purple spoons. Fish and bait seemed scattered. Probably because of the weather and wind. No flea flicker line and braid dipsy. Not much for weed mats either.

  7. No experience with in board motors but my outboard did the exact same thing this spring. The problem was my water pump was not changed with the impeller and the water jacket was not connected to the bottom of the motor. If there is no water coming out of the motor with it at middle but will flow at high rpm you have a flow problem. Check the pump housing. Put the thermostat in hot water if it opens its not that.

  8. Hows fishing been this week been on Cayuga going out of Myers tomorrow with 3 newbies would like to get in to some fish.  I haven't been able to get out for the last month. Normally fish north of Myers AES and farther north  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I will post my reports after we get back.  last time out dark spoons black or purple were the ticket. Thanks in advance

  9. that is the beauty of a displacement hull the c dory is based on the lines of both the Carolina dory and the pacific dory the boat is going to handle any bad surf well its designed for ocean use how ever not fast ocean use.  the old saying of a dory is it will get you back long after you wanted to be back in a storm.  very stable but you will take a pounding.  the pacific dorys are beach launched ply wood boats used in Oregon to chase king salmon they are all 18 - 22 ft and they take them right in the surf and launch them and then drive them up on to the beach to load them on trailers. most of those boats plane out with 40- 60 hp motors.     Excellent bad weather boats but hard on the back will always get you home

  10. Can be a tough lake to fish to catch any thing of size. Only ever caught small fish out of the lake. The lake does set up but usually late and the cold water is all ways shallow. Fish are generally quite skinny and small

  11. In the old days there we're no zebra mussels to contend with. Best thing now is to try not to let the spoon drag on the bottom. You feel the bump of bottom bring the lie up a touch. When. I used to troll with out line counter reels I figured from the middle of my body to full arm.extension was aprox 3 ft. So I would pan the line out in 3 foot increments. The days of dragging bottom with a spoon are gone because of the zebra mussels. It doesn't take long to have hooked a whole mess of them.

  12. Fished out of Myers today from 0800 to 130 pm. Went 3 for 3 all off of.spoons. black purple and white were the hot colors today. Fish were all clean. 1 fish about 6 lbs the rest were all small 18 inch fish. All fish were caught in front of AES. In 80 foot of water. All came on dipsey rods set at 180 on 2 setting. Riggers did nothing. Fish finder showed fish from 40 to about 120 feet of water. Water temps at the surface were 70 +. Colder water down by tahaunick but could not get fish to bite. Good day wasted to much time in the southern part of the lake.

  13. Hard to fish the shoreline breaks in and out fast almost need 1 person driving looking at nothing but depth finder to keep from getting hung on the bottom. Also you can only keep 1 lakers out of the lake per day. Been a while but last time I was there alone it was tough fishing by your self.

  14. I've been having the same problem with break offs with 12 lb fluro from dipsy to spoon. Never had break offs with 20 lb mono. Lost quite a lot of fish and lures with quick strikes that didn't even trip the diver this year

  15. also if you plan to fish off a party barge be prepared to be agrivated.  worse than fishing down town Pulaski at the height of the salmon run.  line tangles and bad altitudes.   the staff and captains are usually class acts though.

  16. Coast fishing in the summer months can be hit or miss.  used to fish all up and down the east coast chasing blue fish and stripers.  unfortunately you are going to be to far south for them.  weak fish or better known as sea trout can be caught of the beach in jully especially if the coastal currents are in your favor.    Spanish mackerel are another fun fish to catch off the piers and they run just like a blue fish or striper blitz.  the biggest problem with fishing off the piers is getting the fish up on to the piers after you have caught them.  many of the piers will have guys fishing on the end of them for king mackrel and cobia and i think they rent the spot for the season.  Croker fish are very common can be caught all day long on blood worms.  they are simaler to a crappie or sun fish from up hear.  Beach fishing can be good at night and you never really know what you may catch flounders are always in the surf.  my best advice is talk with a ma and pop bait store and they will usally help you.  however summertime surf fishing usually seems to be very slow.
