  1. Launched yesterday about 8 am from Myers. With notlt of time to fish decided to hang near Myers and see if we could find fish near the launch. Found a nice scum line set up just south of the launch in front of the salt plant. Marked a ton of fish and bait in the 60 to 90 ft range right along the scum line. Set riggers down 90. With flasher fly with spoons stacked at 70 and 60. Ran dipsys at 180 and 240. Made 3 or 4 passes in front of the plant and back out around Myers point and couldn't move a rod. The water was dark and had a lot of junk floating in it. Changed flies and spoons pretty regularly and couldn't get anything to fire. Lasted about 2 hrs and finally called it quits as the rain hit. First skunk of the year but didn't really put a lot of effort in to it. Fish and scum line were found in about 250 to 280 ft of water. The inside water was barren marked no fish or bait under 200 ft of water. Good luck out there to anyone fortunate enough to be able to keep fishing. Thanks for all the help this year to those that gave me tips. Side note the water had a lot of junk in it including fairly good sized logs floating. The launch at Myers had a lot of debris in the water. But the water level seemed about normal

  2. Well I guess it is finally time heading to Myers tomorrow to retrieve the boat and hopefully get a couple hours of fishing in. Will probably be last trip of the year. Will report how we do tomorrow evening if we have any luck. If any one has any starting points they are always welcome. Thanks in advance.

  3. How do you run only 1 bag with out going in circles. Just curious do you run it off the stern mid ship or some how down the middle of the boat. I know when I use my trolling bags I had to run 2 or nothing other wise boat wanders all over the place. Also had to make sure I tied back of the bag to the stern cleat to keep from getting pulled all over from the currents and waves.

  4. Boy it is a small world. Today I'm sitting at work and a guy showed up to do some maitanance on a piece of equipment. Noticed that he was driving a large Dodge Diesel pick up. In making small talk asked him if he towed anything with his truck and he said all the time. He told me he has a Large boat that he tows up to his camp on lake ontario. I asked him if he knew about this incident and he said he did. Aparenantly the guy was from PA but had a camp at Sebers Marina out of North sandy. The guy that I was talking to said he is neighbors with the guy at the marina. Said the guy had been fishing the lake for along time and that he knew him personally and said what ever happened must have been a catistrophic failure. The guy that I was talking to said the boat wasn't brand new but he had fished off it many times before and it seemed like it was well taken care of. I didn't want to dig in to details but the guy that was working here said he was a experienced fisherman and experienced on lake ontario. He said one of the other guys at the camp was one of the survivors and the captain had gotten the 2 survivors life jackets and then went back down in to the cuddy to get one for him self and the boat just went under. It seems to me we are talking about more than a broken threw hull mount that went bad to make the vessel sink that fast. I guess I don't really know what it takes to make a boat sink that quick and hope I never have to find out. Be safe out there. Check your pumps and have a good plan in place in case you need to implement it. I know after talking with this guy all of my life jackets that are stowed in my cuddy under bunks and covered with all the "IMPORTANT "fishing stuff are going to be made much more easy to get to incase of emergency. I guess you just never know.

  5. I may be missing something but 200 yards of lead core is a 20 color set up. Usually 10 yards a color or 30 ft. 10 core is 100 yards or about 300 ft. So I think everything should fit on your reel if you only way a 10 core set up. Like I said maybe I'm missing something. But seems to me it would fit. I'm not sure how big a penn 350 but I have put 5 and 7 cores on penn 309 with plenty of backing underneath the lead core and I usually use 25 lb lead core.

  6. Fished 830 to about 330. Caught 1 fish. Didn't Mark that many fish. Fished from north of Myers to AES with out moving a rod Picked up and ran to T falls and fished around t falls back and forth. Marked fish in the 80 to 90 ft range between Boy scout camp and t falls but could not get them to fire. Circled the fish that we marked north south east west nothing. Fish were amongst large bait balls. Continued north troll for a while and finally called it a day. Went for a boat ride up north of the power plant to see how weeds were farther north and they seemed to deminish some. East side definitely had more weeds than the west. Was absolutely brutal hot on the boat today. No wind at all. Called it quits and was off the water around 3 330. Good luck out there hopefully the fishing will improve some in the near future been awful slow for me lately
