I know. Mother nature can help out with some things but these damned things don't have any predators so the options are pretty limited for getting things back in balance.

Really?  Birds, fish won't/can't eat them? How long do they live?

Since you wanted to take a personal shot at me Brian...For the record. My part time charter career lasted 22 years . 1979 through 2001. Now I fish the lake with friends probably between 10 to 15 times a season. Was just out today. Before the issues in 17,19,and 20 lake usage was much lower than the hey days of the 80’s and 90’s. (When I was running my failed part time charter business 50 to 70 trips a year)

I chose to sell my business to do three things. Travel with my high level athlete daughter to watch her play premier soccer and college basketball all over the US.

Started a fly fishing school we still run today for wounded and disabled Vets with Oasis Adaptive Sports and Project Healing Waters, and annual fly fishing seminars for women recovering from breast cancer....

Third, travel the world to fish.

From the Arctic Circle to the Seychelles, and do some seasonal guiding/trip hosting in Alaska.

Please buy my recent book I published in 2019 “Fishing Adventures on the Fly with Dave & Lindsay Agness” on either Amazon or Barnes and Noble. I need the money to recover from my failed Charter business.

Ray, you probably don’t want to hear it, by NYC money comes out here, not the other way around. And Wyoming County in particular is a net receiver of tax money, not a giver. Your county gets way more than it gives. Way more.

I don’t like the NYC politics any more than you, but facts are facts. Western NY, especially the rural counties, are the hands out counties in this state, not the counties in NYC. You benefit way more than you realize. Roads, bridges, school budgets. The NY Troopers keeping the peace in your town because you can’t fund a local force. Etc etc. Without NYC dollars we’d live in one of the poorest states in the nation.

Insects. Ugh. The extreme hate for folks with a different perspective is unfortunate. They are all people too.

I give the gov of Georgia credit for opening up his state. I wish our gov had his guts. The  gov we have for our state is playing politics with this virus. all he does is talk and tell the people what they want to hear. the longer he can keep our state shut down the more federal aid we will get.  any state that's 6 billion in the red can't fix there problem. if the people didn't complain we wouldn't have are launch ramps open. the model numbers are way off. how many people you think died because of this virus. I bet you about 10 thousand only. the rest died because people with serious medical history problems and life styles. the virus didn't kill them. I Think its time we open the state only  and keep ny city shut down for another month. if you people want to sit in your house and hide from this virus ok with me.  I want to get out and enjoy our short Summer we get here.

Well there you have it folks, Dr. Ray4852 has spoken...

Rush Limbaugh had the exact same Question about California weeks ago, asking why isn't California the epicenter? It has by far the most travel to and from China. He said one theory is herd immunity.

In the United States all citizens have a first amendment. our fore fathers fought for our bill of rights to protect us from future government that don't like our way of life. just think what this country would look like if we didn't have our bill of rights.

You have zero rights on a privately owned internet message board, only privileges. Your privileges can be suspended or revoked by the site owner or their proxy at any time. If you are worried about liberals and not worried about the coronavirus, maybe the liberals aren't the only ones brain dead.

I hope it applies to sailboats as well. I had to blast my air horn at one 2 weeks ago. He was on a course to t bone my boat...we were doubled up fighting fish. When I yelled at him to keep off my stern
..we had fish on back there....his only response was...I'm in a sailboat. Apparently he cant control his vessel enough to avoid a boat traveling 2.5 mph.

I'm pretty sure if you are a motor boat under power, you have to give way to a sailboat 100% of the time.

I obey the law. I know the system. I never had a violation in my 60 years of fishing. the law today is rotten to the core. its controlled buy the special interest runned by the far left media and our communist democratic party. these rotten bastards are out to suck the little guy dry with laws that make life harder for us. these people that make these laws     are a bunch of criminals that steal from the system night and day and get away with everything they do. we do some foolish they hang us. I see you are one of the far left.

The boom starts getting dismantled when the ice on Erie lowers to 650 sq miles.  As of April 1st there was 700 sq miles of ice.  Best guess is they will start late next week.

Pretty sure the ice boom on Lake Erie comes out when the ice field is < 250 square miles.

You sound like an obnoxious heartless  p rick that could care less that someone passed in a boating accident.

I don't see where anyone is defending the boat owner. They have sympathy for the deceased. I guess you don't captain.

It's funny, in the private sector, violation of a storm water permit can result in 1000s of dollar fines including criminal penalties if intent or knowingly was determined a cause.

Publicly owned utilities are subject to fines and criminal penalties for permit violations.

  13. Relax, although unfortunate, an accidental spill of 35,000 gallons of secondary digester sludge isn't going to ruin the finger lakes. That stuff is pretty much inert and probably trickled into the receiving stream over a period of time. It's highly unlikely a supervisor would order an operator to intentionally dump sludge into a receiving stream. Stuff happens at work. Unless the facility is a repeat offender I would be surprised anyone would get fired.
