  1. Had fish on the screen in 20 to 100 fow but nobody interested so we cleared the stuff and shot out off shore. Found a real spotty looking screen from 400 to 550' and set up a wide spread: 400/500 copper steely style spoons off the big boards, divers out 350 w/ twinkie-meat behind crazy **** and a big mirage paddle. Riggers were set w/ mag and reg mixed veg spoons down 70 and 90. All the lines took fish. Wound up w/ a nice mixed box of steel, kings, and a coho. If I could go offshore and comfortably do it again I would consider it.

  3. Headed out of the County launch with Mickey from LOU after the first flush of fleet departed. Pretty quick we Discovered in short order that we had no temp/speed at ball or gps or kicker. Mickey turned out to be much like myself and just rolled with our situation as we kind of thrashed around trying this and that until we put together a bit of a program. Captain Ernie said it years and years ago and it’s still true “ when you can get one hot rod to go, you have you have all you need. Yesterday ours was a regular size diver on 1.5 out 250 in 250/300 fow pulling the classic Hammer Time flasher and Hammer Time fly. Just when Mickey began to revel in the thought we’d nearly boxed out on majors and were pulling lines the 400’ copper and the other diver that had been dead both fired. Being the gentleman I am I forced him into bringing in the copper fish while the diver fish made 3 screaming runs while I left it in the rigger rod holder and basically watched as line peeled off. After netting the copper king I handed him the diver rod with 500’ feet out and mumbled something feeble about needing to get fish out of the way and finish getting rods and boards pulled. I hope you had as much fun yesterday as I did Mickey, thanks for a load of laughsE1D05800-0645-43C6-8E4A-2DCE0087DFF3.thumb.jpeg.39b5dde8b78e27a3458c956a29695eea.jpeg

  4. I always warn folks about the copper menace yet they never seem to understand why I’m backing up and pointing at the rod at the same time

A lesson well learned seeing that two days later and my arms and legs are still sore. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji476]
