  1. Hi jimski2

I am afraid you are right. I just talked to two people finally who used to do this work but they said to forget it.

If I or anybody else wants to put something in the water like a lift or pileings that they can tie their boat to-the DEC will not give them a permit anymore.

The lake always takes them over-especially after a big storm. The bed on lake Ontario moves etc etc etc.

Can't put in a ramp either as the concrete has to extend into the water a no no for fish environment.

Maybe I should consider myself blessed having a marina 5 minutes away.

How do these marinas get the ok to rebuild and ad more docks and slips. Funny how stupid some of us (me) are.

These people like the DEC get their foot in the door saying we only want to do this for the environment but is a short time ,they can do anything they want.

As for where I have my place which is right near bald eagle marina you can't beat it.That woman running it has really turnd it around and it is loaded with boats. Nice  big restaurant now and fish ,lots  of big fish being caught.

I saw a shore patrol boat yesterday that had three 300 hp engines on it and the boat is not that big. It is for speed.

They know how to spend that free money they get.

anyway good fishing to everybody and someway somehow I will solve this problem. The people who gave me this info are rebuilding  the break walls and installing others from scratch. I lucked out on mine and don't need repairs.

The neighbor on my left said it cost him $30 k and the other two doors down said he paid close to $60k. I think it's called Lake Ontario construction.

  2. I have two boats now at bald eagle marina. I have tried everything to  get a boat ramp installed  or a rail system. on my property in Kendal.

There are a lot of boat rail system installers   in Canada but not in the lake Ontario area..

The ones that did contact me say they will come and look at it but never do.

Even tried to get davits installed.

Guess I will have to find Samson and Hercules to came and lift them on shore.

I have a pretty good breakwall so I think the rail system is the way to go.

There are some construction crews working on Breakwalls and shore repairs but don't want to waste time trying to get past the DEC.

I even have a state built Boat ramp built by the state between my property and my neighbors but  mostly filled in with huge gigantic boulders and unusable and I can't touch it  because it is state land.

I had a gravel area dug out  on the other side of the road on my property so I can store  both boats there in the winter.

If anybody knows of anyone who can install rail systems or boat ramps I would love to hear from them.

    Thanks.

  3. Hi members.

Ashamed to say I have not been on since I bought my Lund boat in april  I think.

Anyway I was so busy as My wife decided (you know what I mean guys).

To sell the big colonial in Pittsford and move to a ranch rental community.

TIred of paying all those taxes for property-etc  etc. and  doing all the (1 acre) Yard work.

3500 sq ft prairie style colonial which housed me and my wife and her parents that moved in for 12 yrs until they passed away.

My son and his wife lived there and also  my daughter and her husband. Would you believe it took over four dumpsters as everyone left stuff.

Looking for the best chart for my 16" NSS evo2. One that shows wrecks and everything.

I have not even been out yet. Just dropped the Lund in the slip at bald eagle Marina.

I also have the slip next to it for my Premier Pontoon boat which is not yet in the water.

Any extras you might think I will need for this Simrad.

    They recommend C-Charts.

I appreciate any input at all.

The small ranch I have on the water here in Kendal is going to get some extras this year if I can find the right people.

My wife thinks a new deck with steps going down to the break wall.

Thinking of getting Davits installed for my pontoon  or my Lund.

Don't even know where to start looking.

I have been so busy lately.

I am 78 and have not lost any interest in fishing at all.

I worked hard all my life and have really been enjoying it lately.

I am a very lucky person.

I hope we all have a great fishing year.

I have two to choose from

http://www.seagermarine.com/boat_listings/2017-lund-1600-rebel-side-console I don't like this one for the reason the storage on the sides takes away from free space.

    This is the rebel SS

The fury XL SS is 3 inches wider and has 3 seats and extras and I don't get the difference in MSRP

    http://www.seagermarine.com/boat_listings/2017-fury-1625-xl-side-console

That simrad 16" definitely will no fit on top of the console-too big.

Maybe I should get the big tiller they have there

  5. thanks I hope to spend a lot of time on it.

I have all the time in the world and crazy me thinks maybe get a auto pilot and just spend a few days looking for wrecks.

I think they have a map somewhere of where   they are located but I think most are up around Oswego. I look forward to a lot of days on the water this coming year.

  6. Well I went to the show and ended  up buying a 2007 16'  starcraft  starfire  with a 50HP and a 9.9 four stroke kicker.

Has a cover etc etc. They are going to mount my simrad NSS16 evo2 Chartplotter  and Lowrance TotalScan Skimmer Transom Mount Transduce for me. Just wondering how fast that 50HP engine will get me off the lake.

I don't think it will hit 30MPH but it should be fast enough.

I was amazed at the prices of some of those jet skies now.

    they are really up there.

I hope every one has a great fishing year.

Aluminum boats transom and floors for that matter are relatively easy and inexpensive to replace. That would be the least of my concerns when looking at a older tin boat. Condition of motor and rivets if it has them , being leak proof would be at the top. If those are good you have a strong foundation to work from and if it cost you 500,-1,000 in material, when your done you have pretty much a new hull. Just my .02

    great answer thanks

Might get a Lund Rebel ss

  8. I have a pontoon boat but thinking of getting a second boat just for fishing.

Looking at Lund boats 16' to 18'.

I started out looking at a used Lund tiller 14' for $3400 and a hundred boats later on 16 and 18 foot  used boats.

I really didn't want to buy a new boat but I worry about transoms and other things on boats 15yrs and older.(aluminum).

    Wish me luck looking.

  9. I have a 22' premier pontoon boat out at Eagle creek marina.Great boat for a party and great for fishing but it is not what I want for fishing.

I bought a Simrad NSS16 evo2 Chartplotter .and was told the side view scan may not work that well on a pontoon boat.Thinking of a 16' Lund but wondering if it is good enough for the lake.

My 2nd house is right on the water (little ranch).-looked into trying to get a lift in the water or even a ramp put in but it seems I have to get permits from the town of  Kendal   and  the dec and some other government branch. Seems crazy that I own the  property and I can't even do anything with it. I had no problems with the water level recently but it did come high and occasionally washed over the break wall which is huge on my property. Then my property is about 60 yds back and 15' higher.Should  I look for a used 19 or 20" boat. Aluminum is preferred by me and I see some good ones in the classifieds. I was in a bad storm once with my other boat near the Canadian border. The boat was a 36' Trojan and I thought I did a great job getting her in but  the others on board were saying there prayers out loud.

A 16' aluminum lund is what I like but just wondering about the lake

supply and demand, sandy creek had 1 or 2 marinas shut down so they can charge that now and stay full

I udsed to have a 36' Trojan at Shumway and I think the summer rate for me was $77 a ft.

Winters indoors was $55 a ft.

I only took my pontoon boat  out twice this year and seriously thinking of getting one of those Hydraulic hoists that you can take apart in the winter.

Just have to find the right one to do it.

I thinking right now of getting a canoe or Kayak that I can just throw in the water there (solo)

There are so many for sale-canoes or Kayaks. I'm not going to try and canoe across the lake. I'm 77 and know my limits.

I have not caught any big fish at my cottage but have seen them in the water and there are some huge fish in that lake.

  11. eagle creek marina

    hi

I have been there 3 yrs now. It is under new management and just about every slip is full.

Prices have gone up a lot.

this year I am in the back part of the marina and what a pain-so many lily pads and weeds you can't go to far without lifting the motor and cleaning the prop.

The front part of the Marina is fine. I was in the first row front last year and paid $800 for my 22' pontoon. This year it is $1200 but there were no vacancies there.

the price goes up as you near the outlet. The channel is always clear. They are completing a  restaurant there. I say they doubled there customers this year.

I don't know if I can do this but I just received this for winter service there.

  12. Made up muy mind to go in slow.

Going to field and stream and get the eagle talon sit on top.

they are having a big sale.

I think it is $459 so I will try this and if I really like it I can get something better later on.

By the time I rig her up the price will be up there.

I going tonight but have to run through my selections.I want to put a fishfinder on it and have to mount a transducer  unless I can find something around that price that has all that.

Another option is Gander mountain is going out of business and the prowler 13 is down to about $680 Vs $459 for the field and stream eagle talon.

Just don't know which one but I am getting one tonight
